Re: Player ratings v Barrow.
Dunn 0
Roberts 5 struggled today Smith 6 tough time today Pearson 7 tough time but did well Jennings 8 motm key attacking threat and a goal Rutherford 5 not a day for him against giants in the wind. Wedgbury 7 thought he battled well Kelly 6 average. At fault for their second. Holroyd 8 good attacking play Boden 6 scored, but brushed aside as always. Miller 8 thought he was great. Its funny how this la ky 19 year old has more upper body strength than the rest of our strike force put together. Subs Mackreth 7 played well Wright Posted via mobile theme |

Re: Player ratings v Barrow.
Dunn- minus 6 dreadful performance cost us 2 points.
Roberts -5 poor Smith - 7 steady Pearson - 6 average for him today. Jennings - 5 good free kick goal, but to blame for their 2nd. Rutherford - 5 invisible. Wedgebury -6 poor passing let's him down. Kelly - 7 a good game today Holroyd -7 a skilful player but chooses the diving option when outmuscled well taken goal. Boden -8 MOM of the match his best game yet laid 2 on a plate for Miller. Miller -7 lots of good energy wasted 2 chances today though. Keates -4 another ban and inevitable fine, I don't think the fighting helped the players concentration for their equaliser although Dunn was pathetic for the goal. Referee -4 lost control of the game. In Summary 2 points thrown away. On the plus side most entertaining game of the season both sides playing to win and probably a fair result. But more points dropped at home to a side near the bottom. Posted via mobile theme |

Re: Player ratings v Barrow.
Dunn (5) Atrocious conditions made his life difficult but his reluctance to dominate his area and come for the ball cost us. He did, however, make a few vital stops, so not as inept as many claim. However, Coddington, please come back!
Roberts (5) Struggled throughout but never gave up. M Smith (7) Good game considering the conditions. Pearson (6) But why was he taking so many free-kicks? He also suffers from gobbyitis - a trait from the manager? Jennings (6) Poor defending for the second goal, but better further forward. I would play Carrington at LB and try Jennings further forward. Rutherford (5) Everything just pinged off him and he contributed nothing. He and MacKreth will be contestants on the quiz Pointless! Wedgbury (7) If only his passing was better! Kelly (7) Thought that was his most effective game. Stupid decision to replace him with Wright - who is match rusty, when Carrington would have been better. Holroyd (7) He is too isolated on left-wing. Boden (7) Thought his link-up play with Miller was good but he lacks pace. Miller (9) Did everything bar score - which, ironically did cost us due to poor defending elsewhere. Great to see an actual footballer, and am sure this lad will develop into something very good. My MotM. Subs: MacKreth (4) Pointless! Wright (N/A) Strange substitution. Keates' inappropriate actions puts the club in a bad light and helped Barrow rally. He is already under a lot of pressure to get the January Transfer dealings right, but after a string of poor results he now has to get it right and start behaving appropriately. At least he'll get a better view from the Directors' Box!

Our inability to pass the ball to a player in Red is our undoing. We run to the corners in the last 5 minutes hoping to close the game out because we can't trust players to keep the ball in the middle of the park. We have 2 weeks off after Torquay. Lets hope passing and moving becomes a priority in training. FWIW I thought the attack looked much better but it relied on Holroyd and Boden feeding Miller with little positive contribution from Midfield. |

He was in acres of space at one stage with the ball not coming to him then he gets it in tight areas and has to do his juggling trick to get it onto his correct foot! I expect more from him with his experience, especially with corners and free-kicks. |

Re: Player ratings v Barrow.
Dunn - 6 was at fault for the first goal. Ironically I think if he had punched it, the ref would have given a foul. Made 2 other decent saves
Roberts - 6 was definitely struggling first half but improved 2nd half Manny - 7 standard Manny first half, up against it 2nd half Pearson - 7 Pearson his usual self but got pulled all over the place. Jennings - 6 gave the ball away for their 2nd goal but a great free kick Rutherford - 5 not his day today Wedgbury - 7 was involved in all that we did, needed Wright alongside him Kelly - 7 tried hard to get us on the front foot Holroyd - 7 good first goal but offered very little after Boden -7 his best game for us today. Linked up the play well. Miller -8 his inexperience let him down but led the line well and should have had a hat trick Mackreth -6 from the Hays Travel stand he is the most infuriating player as instead of going to the by line and crossing it he always checks inside and loses it! Wright - not really on long enough DK - we all know that Pennock is a grade 1 a-hole but to get himself involved in a push and shove towards the end was a tad ridiculous. Referee - 0 was a look at me type. Never gave a free kick against Holt when he wrestled Smith to the floor. Booked Roberts because Holt wouldn't move 10 yards. How come Pennock didn't get sent to the stand? Having refereed, you manage the game and the conditions. He did neither. When Barrow scored their first goal, the ref was nearer to the half way line than the goal line. He was therefore not in a position to see the infringement or award the free kick. Hopeless. |
