Keates puts offer in on 2nd striker - Daily Post
DEAN KEATES is confident new loan signing Scott Quigley will “take his frustration out on our opposition” when he unleashes the giant striker on the National League. Keates bolstered his attacking options yesterday with the addition of Quigley, the striker signing on loan at the Racecourse from League One side Blackpool until the end of the season. Quigley only joined the Tangerines in the summer after enjoying huge success in the Welsh Premier League with The New Saints, winning every trophy in Wales and scoring 25 times for the Park Hall outfit. However, the forward has struggled to nail down a place at Bloomfield Road, making only 14 appearances, five of which were in the Football League Trophy. And Keates believes Quigley is chomping at the bit to get started for the Dragons. “We got Quigs in and it has been a bit of a long process,” said Keates. “He was someone I tried to get in before we got George (Miller). He was still involved at Blackpool and was playing in the Trophy. “But since they have got knocked out he has been made available, so with George going back (to parent club Middlesbrough) it was very much a like for like. “He is strong, he is powerful and wants to play on the shoulder. “He has come in and trained with us and looked bright and looked sharp. “He is enthusiastic, he speaks well and he wants to get playing, and all being the well the frustration that he has had from the first half of the season he can take out on our opposition for the rest of the season.” Keates revealed Wrexham had fought off interest from other teams towards the top of the National League for his signature. But he added the fact that Quigley had a strong relationship with Dragons assistant coach Carl Darlington from their time at TNS also played hugely in their favour. The Dragons boss said: “There were a couple of teams interested in him, a couple of teams in the mix at the top end of the division trying to get him, but the fact that he knows the club, knows what we are all about as a club, and also knows Darlo, has helped us. “He has got a couple of years left at Blackpool. Obviously they only invested in him in the summer. “Darlo has worked with him on a day to day basis and knows him really well. “We’ve taken in some of the cup games and kept a close eye on him and it was something we tried to do a few months ago, but he was part of their squad. “Scott has proven in the Welsh Premier and has scored goals. Carl has worked with him and he ticks all the boxes for us. “He can’t wait to get going and wants to score some goals for us.” Keates had been keen to add a second player to his ranks this week, but revealed that was now unlikely ahead of Saturday’s clash at Hartlepool United, a match that will pit Quigley against former TNS manager Craig Harrison. When questioned on the possibility of another new recruit, Keates said: “It is still progressing. I have spoken to a few, we put offers out to a couple, but it is one of them that some you win, some you don’t. “We knew with Quigs there were other teams after him, so we got that done through the weekend, that was always in place, and there was a possibility of someone else, but I can’t foresee that happening now. “But we have got other things in the pipeline and we have got an offer on the table for someone else.” Asked if it would be ahead of the trip to Victoria Park, Keates replied: “I wouldn’t have thought so. “We’ve made an offer and all we can do is wait and see if it is accepted or not" |

You've taken the first step to recovery. Acknowledging that you're a "troll".
Keates could sign Ronaldo and Messi, win the Champions League and you would still have it in for Keates. Yes,yes, I know everyone is entitled to their opinion but you have a dislike of Keates which is blatantly obvious from your past posts. |

Deverdics is going to Gateshead according to my mate up there. Was 'apparently' seen at their ground yesterday.
Take it with a pinch of salt though as its probably a third or fourth hand rumour by the time it has got to me!! |
