We've got to be one of the unluckiest teams around. We chase a striker for nearly half a year, he bangs in three goals in two games before pulling his hamstring ten minutes into his third bastard game.

Disagree there FOG. Every team needs a Rutherford.

You are right about Deverdics though, he is a quality player.

My concern about the window is that we have fallen short again:

Raven - good player but another right back ( we now have four)
Wright - wasn’t a signing
Quigley - we let two loan players go and replaced them with one. He looks good but then so did Reid at this stage. Quigley is not a proven goal scorer at this level. He could still amount to anything.

In short we still don’t have enough up front. The positive is that we are definitely building a very good team for next season. If we release some higher earners like Kelly, McReth and Boden , we have a chance of finally building enough quality :

Coddington
Raven
Smith
Pearson
Jennings

X
Wedgebury
X
Deverdics

Squad : Dibble, new centre back, Roberts, Rutherford, Wright, Holroyd. And a loanee striker

Release high earners? So you know how much they are on? Know that they are on more than the others? You do know Keates signed them and won't pay silly money, just because you don't rate them it don't make them on more money unless you're privy to their contracts?

A good playmaker , and what we have been missing . It is no good winning the ball if you have nobody with guile to give it to - well done DK 😉

Keates comments suggest he wants Deverdics on the left wing so with everyone fit its not clear who the central midfielders would be. You can assume Holroyd would get the nod over Boden and that the loan striker would be to compete with Quiqley.

Its a disappointment to me if he continues with Kelly in the middle and a big burden on Deverdics if he's meant to create on the left with Wedgbury and Wright passing him the ball from the middle.

With that said , very happy with the improvements in the window. In my eyes we have moved to become a top five side.

It’s not bad luck, it’s a result of playing a player who was out on his feet at the end of the Tranmere game and should have come off 20 minutes before he did. No coincidence he did his hamstring. If you run players into the ground they pick up injuries.

Sounds like Keates wanted to rest Quigley last night, but he insisted on playing.
