To be honest I don't know. Maybe it was because I was in the posh seats.

There were many Man U supporters with us on the Kop. A great atmosphere, plenty of good banter. I do n't think there was any segregation. Great times.

For many years you could walk from the old boys pen around to the Turf entrance without any barriers. As I recall you had to pay extra to go in the paddock with no cover and yet more again to enter the seated stands.

As for best team at the Cae Raes I do remember being astounded by the Liverpool team of c 1963/4 with Hunt , St John etc .They were the best I saw and I think we lost three nil !
It was exactly the same for me griff. My dear old mum stepped in and told mewasn't big enough to attend the game. By the time Liverpool came I was allowed out on my own! Stood on the Kop for that game and was surprised to see that the burly scousers present peed in the snow on the Kop at half time rather than visit the bogs.

David Jones nearly scored in the first minute. Johnny Anderson juggled the ball on the halfway line. Ally McGowan was Wrexham's best player against David Pegg which resulted in Wrexham turning down a substantial bid from Fulham. Those were the main Wrexham highlights against a truly great side.

What was a substantial bid in those days?

Half a crown, a crate of brown ale and fish & chip suppers at Gwersyllt fish bar for the whole first team (with optional mushy peas & lashings of gravy)

No ambition!

Good stories here, the thought of 34,000 at the Racecourse is mind boggling, imagine how many there would have been if it wasn't for all the green netting
