That Palace game was the worst I've felt leaving the Racecourse, ever, and I have left the ground on hundred of occasion saying never again, I can tell you. I was in the old paddock Mold Road. The Mansfield game I was afternoons and no one would swoop with me. I haven't long got married so couldn't pull a sicky coz I needed the money.
Even if it doesn't pan out this year like I'm hoping it will, I don't think I'll have that Palace feeling again.

Not sure about that, even though I cried on the way home after the Palace defeat, half expecting that we may have blown it despite only needing a point v Mansfield. We may have a slightly younger squad but we would have missed out on our most successful season, promoted as champions, FA & League Cup QF's, Welsh Cup, a host of great cup wins, fantastic goals and some of our largest crowds for the last 50 years. We were surely a better team/squad after the acquisition of Cartwright, Davies, & McNeil and the gate money over our last 2 seasons in Division 3. That was the most dissapointing few days of supporting Wxm, despite a cracking season, but the following season more than made up for it, our greatest hour and made Wxm really put themselves on the football map.

It was and if memory serves me right, Mansfield scored late on minutes after Graham Whittle rattled a post with a trade mark free kick. Fine lines but as I say the next season was our greatest.

I believe a young aspiring manager by the name of Terry Venables was in charge of Palace that day.
