Default Re: BTB 1 Year on

It's probably wrong to describe BTB as 5,000 fans contributing an average of £20 each to raise £100,000. Amongst the 5,000, there are probably many who haven't made, or haven't been able to make, a contribution, while there are also many who have contributed much more than £20 each.

I agree that it would provide an incentive for agents' greed if there was total transparency with the use of BTB. It might be better to issue a statement saying something like:

"These (names) are the players who we would not have if fans hadn't raised £100,000 in 12 months for that purpose. If you agree that this has made a difference this season, please help us achieve even more next season by raising at least the same again."

Many fans will recognise that BTB has made a positive difference, but others don't know much (if anything) about it! Shout it from the rooftops so that everyone can see the good it has done. Without it, we could still be worrying about getting 50 points and staying up!

I'm all for it like most of us on RP but it can't be left to the same minority all the time. I enquired before xmas how many raffle tickets were returned out of the 6000 books sent out. It would appear not all are in the same mindset. But onwards and upwards for me.

This maybe true, but has donating to BtB caused any financial issues for the fans who have supported it's iniatives, likewise with club membership, thefore happy days. Buying STs is a bit different as it is one hit, but a few quid here and there from a greater majority of fans makes the BtB's success sustainable.

Those who want do their bit will and it is unlikely fans will pay more than they can afford. The more difficult thing for me is sustaining all the effort and time of the volunteers who make the iniatives work. These people are the real heroes in its success but if we win today and stay top of the league, we can all take some satisfaction in that, we helped make this happen. Success breeds success but it needs a catylist to get things started, whether it be the prudent administration of the Trust, the shrewd appointment of Keates or BtB or just our luck, but our crowds are increasing and we are going in the right direction.

The club has been in dire straights financially for the best part of 15 years and certainly since administration and exiting the NL and we have had plenty of doom & gloom to moan about, feeling sorry for ourselves or for others giving up altogether. There are many to blame for the state of things, why we went into administration, why we got relegated, why we lost our assets, why we couldn't just bounce back, why we have been here 10 years, but at the end of the day, there is only us fans who truly care.

Our current situation is proving, that we are starting to put that behind us and that is all down to enough fans wanting it enough. If the goal of promotion isn't completed this season, then we need to ensure we keep improving things and persuading a bigger majority of our fans to get involved on the back of seeing the difference it makes.

Everyone should take confidence in the way the off the field activities have been turned round by the Trust(ourselves) and DK and his staff have turned things around on the pitch, so let's keep the faith, jointly we can make it happen.

Firstly congratulations to Pagl and Co. who took out their frustration with what was happening in the club by responding positively and being the catalyst for BTB. Secondly I set up a standing order to BTB and will continue it through 2018/19 and am happy for it to be used as Dean and the Board/Trust see fit, well done everyone COYRs

It would be daft not to. Those who can/want to will contribute, those who can't/don't want to will not. Either way the fund should exist.

As to what the money is spent on is a different discussion.

Supporter owned club - if the supporters don't help fund the club then who does?

I have to say that getting to £100k is testament to the fans, the WSA, ALL the reds groups (don't want to single any one of them out) the WST and then the club itself.

Fantastic donations from everyone, bucket collection, duck race, standing orders, Xmas raffle, donations from the gate money....the list goes on and shows what can happen when we are all pulling in the same direction.

From what was a fantastic RP initiative and a starting point of £4k then all the activities and efforts of everyone has made this fund what it is and DK has used this towards bringing in better quality players. Lets face it he has used it to great effect.

Can we do the same again next season though? Hmmm its a tough ask but one I am sure that we will all rise to.

We will need as many people as possible to help with the events, spread the word etc.

I think the BTB committee will be getting together to see how we can start some new initiatives for the next phase of BTB.
