Default BTB 1 Year on

Just received the email from the club.

" Since its launch twelve months ago in February 2017 Build The Budget has now raised more than £100,000 through the generosity of individual fans and supporters groups.

The BTB committee, our media team, volunteers, management team, staff and players have worked hard on the BTB Offers, duck races, Christmas Raffle, channelling of WST membership subscriptions, attendance income from 23rd December vs Dover and many many more.

Make no bones about it this has been an incredible effort and every single person who donated, bought a raffle ticket or contributed in another way has influenced the performance of the team through our ability to sign players of real quality. This has enabled Dean and his staff to create a high performance culture and make us very competitive again.

We understand and appreciate the sacrifices people have made to support this effort and we hope that it delivers the burning ambition of every person who loves Wrexham AFC which is to regain our place in the Football League.

Yet we know promotion from this division is possibly the most difficult task in British Football and to maintain and sustain performance levels we have seen this season requires similar levels of investment going forwards. As a club we are working incredibly hard to raise income levels so that we can sustain football of this quality.

To name but a few you will have seen new sponsorship partnerships such as the BKoncepts Stand and Hays Travel Stand, sold out hospitality in the stadium and high quality retail in a town centre location over the Christmas period. In addition we have worked hard to land a major concert in the summer in the Stereophonics.

Your Opinion Counts
With all this context in mind we would like feedback from fans if you want us to relaunch Build The Budget for 2018/19 season so that we can make a decision by the end of this month. You can provide feedback in one of 2 ways: Email: treasurerbtb@wst.org.uk

or

This will be an agenda item at the Trust Meeting on Monday 26th February starting at 7:30pm in the Centenary Club, when we will ask members their opinion so we can gauge if fans believe making the effort and sacrifice the right thing to do when we see the results on the pitch.
In addition should fans want us to relaunch BTB for 2018/19 we would be very interested to hear your ideas on how we should go about it.

Therefore please include in your email any ideas you may have or bring them to the Trust Meeting on Monday 26th.

One again thank you for your magnificent support, let’s keep it going in the ‘run in’.

Come On You Reds! "

Over £100,000 raised.

Incredible effort from everyone.

As for suggesting if we should do it again for next year, it's a yes from me. I'd happily chuck in another £60 if it leads to singings of the quality Deano has brought in this January / February.

Looking at it in a pessimistic light, do we need to raise 100k every year then to have a decent squad?

One other question, as this 100k is additional income to the club, do they get taxed on it?

Always happy to contribute, but it would be nice to know how the BTB balance currently stands? I’m not sure anyone who already supports the Club through a season ticket, WST membership and away travel support would “blindly” pledge to BTB without knowing how much (if anything) is actually left! Don’t have any issues in fundraising activity monies being ploughed into BTB!... but a little wary of cash pledges.

Also, if we are successful in securing League 2 football next season, surely the whole budget situation would look a whole lot healthier with the perceived £800k (or more) league payment to the Club! Are we slightly premature in considering this without the full facts/knowledge?

I'd say it should stay open every year.

Obviously we're not going to get 100 grand every time but every bit of money counts.

Difficult to decide to do it again until we know what league we are in and if it would be as successful again.

National league - Would be good to do it again as we know the quality of signings Keates has made using the extra cash, but would it be successful again? I think everyone will be disappointed over the summer due to the fact we have another year in this hell hole, so it would be quite hard to motivate people to do it all over again.

Football League - I don't think we would need to do it if we went up. We get plenty of money off the league and TV also the town would be buzzing which means a lot more money will be spent by fans on merchandise/season tickets and attendances will go up quite a bit with decent away followings.

2500 adult/owners supporters giving £40 extra over the season is £100k. If that what it takes to compete then I think it’s the minimum we should provide each year. I know we pay loads already but look how far we have come this year.

Look at it two ways, Next season...
1 - to help fund the team keep a foothold in Div 2 before making an onwards push or
2- further strengthening a title aspiring team from the National league into Div 2
I think BTB should continue with the aim to beat the previous years figure.

Once you're in the league, financial fair play kicks in so we should be able to generate enough to compete purely because we're good at spending what we have.

Fantastic response. I didn't realise we were anywhere near this amount, but this is great, shows what can be achieved if we want it enough. Fingers crossed the extra quality it has brought in helps us achieve promotion.
