Lowest budget

Interesting read in the non league paper. Top of the table manager John Askey says it would be my greatest achievement if we won the league it would be a minor miracle. I know for a fact we have the lowest budget.

Can't dispute any of that he is right it would be a tremendous achievement especially with their off field problems, to many on here are assuming they will fall away, but with our constant draws it's more likely us that will.

Absolute nonsense if he means in the entire league. They’ll have the lowest of say the top 7 for sure.

It would surprise me if lowest budget in the league but I guess if you look at their players they are generally either long serving such as Whittaker or those who haven't performed well at other clubs and were on the slide. He does seem to get the absolute best out of mediocre players to be fair to him.

It doesn't matter what the budget is if you don't pay the players.

Re: Lowest budget

It just shows then that whilst a better budget allows a manager to bring in better quality players its the blend of the team/players that is just as important.

Eastleigh have been big spenders on wages, Tranmere obviously have a decent budget, we have used BTB to good effect but no-one has yet shown to be far better than anyone else as all the teams in this league have their problems.

Re: Lowest budget

Not forgetting that Macclesfield had to rebuild virtually a new squad last pre season after the exodus of many of their players after last season. Askey has performed miracles to get his team to the top of the pile on home attendances of 1500 on a good day.

Re: Lowest budget

They reckon it's about £400k which puts them on par with Chester. The fact they didn't pay their players on Dec/Jan shows they don't have much.

Didn't Woking say theirs was slashed to £250k this season? Macc definitely don't have the lowest but they'll be in the bottom 8 for sure.

Re: Lowest budget

Top of the league but can't pay their players shows they're paying over the odds on wages. If you build a squad with a promise of paying them X amount wages but then can't afford it that's cheating plain and simple
