Quite rightly pointed, Wedgebury is a player who is comfortable playing in front of the back 4, but this leaves considerable space, lack of height in the middle and creativity.

Personally, I’d play 4-1-3-2 with Quigley and Boden instructed to pepper the net with shots; hoping midfield is there to pick up the scraps. We always seem to pass the ball into the net which clearly isn’t working.

Btw. My midfield would be Deverdics/Kelly on the left of Wright and Rutherford on the right backed up by either full back bombing it up the wing. Humour me here as Roberts seems to have elastic cord tied to him - preventing him from going forward.
When Roberts does get forward he invariably cuts inside. When he play with width we look more dangerous hence the goal yesterday. However it's not often enough.

I think in being too quick to criticise our team we don't always give the opposition enough credit. Just read Neil Young interview saying how he specifically set the team up to counter what he described as our many threats. If Man city draw at home to someone like Burnley or Brighton is it that they're crap or do you sometimes have to say fair play this team has done a good job negating us.

City are 16 points clear, so the expected, occasional hiccup is embarrassing, not fatal. Our midfield has been ineffective all season, but Wedgbury is not the culprit. He does the necessary donkey work, leaving the creative stuff to... Answers on a postcard!

It's a no brainer isnt it? Wedge or Akil do the donkey work and Deverdics should be picking the ball up and dictate play? Where was he playing yesterday?

Try Deverdics in the middle, I know he wasnt effective yesterday but Kelly for me has flattered to decisive all season. He has tidy feet and can wriggle out if pressure but then given time slows the ball right down and plays it sideways or back, Deverdics at least looks willing to take a man on and get forward.

And the less said about set pieces the better.

Unfortunately we are not going to improve until Keates drops Kelly.

Kelly cannot undo defences, pick a pass and has no defensive qualities so why play him there, i admit i was one of us who wanted to see him there but it was evident quite early he hasn't got it, we have a defence who are solid but very wary about pushing up, the gap this creates is 20-40yds which is dominated by the opposition in many games, we have to sort the midfield

Wedge is a dog in the middle, does all the dirty work well but he needs partner who can pass

I think next week, Sutton away may be a one off, picking players/team that can get something in a difficult away fixture against a promotion rival on their 3G pitch.
