I think next week, Sutton away may be a one off, picking players/team that can get something in a difficult away fixture against a promotion rival on their 3G pitch.

Keates is obsessed with clean sheets and in my opinion not much tactical nous.

Indeed.

It's been proven this season that our best central midfield combination is Wedgebury and Wright; we've all seen this.

Quite what Keates sees in Kelly I don't know; but then again I can't work out why he keeps playing left-footed central midfielders on the left-wing. It's even more baffling considering that Keates' was........a left-footed central midfielder.

For what it's worth I agree with you. The fallout from yesterday's game (especially when contrasted with the over the top reaction to our recent wins) is miles over the top.

This is still a work in progress team. The defence was sorted first. Keates has worked hard to improve the attack. The midfield needs work but we haven't done thatv badly considering it's apparently so useless.Deverdics is a new player and hasnt played or trained much with us yet. It will improve. You can't just buy a load of new players and it be miraculously fixed. This isn't Champ man. ( Admittedly I wasn't there yesterday so I'm just commenting on generalities.)

As for Akil Wright. He s just come back from injury. He s 21 and hasn't played much first team men's football in his career. Id imagine he's just being managed properly rather than just being thrown back into the team with no regard for his development.

The point is that this isn't just a 'fallout' from yesterdays game, its a general problem that has dogged us all season.

3 big games coming up now and we need a fully functioning midfield. I think we are still 1 player short especially if Wright is a longer term option.

We need to go to a 4-2-3-1 - which seems tailor made for our squad with Wedgebury and Wright as the 2 - allowing the front four to bomb on when in posession and to give some bodies in midfield when not
I could even live with Kelly as the centre of the three thought Boden would be better

In that case what was the love in about last week?

And if it wasn't acknowledged or mentioned before I'd see the point in multiple posts slagging off the team and Keates (and I realise that is only a small.number of people saying that) but it has been mentioned since the start of the season that there are problems with the midfield. Just a few weeks ago some people were fixated on the attack. We signed a midfielder the other week, and a wide player. Maybe give them a chance to bed in?

Agreed, seems we're in a minority though! Trying to be fair maybe it's easier to be circumspect about how far we've come and what a good position we are in when you're not at every game.
