Default Centre Midfield Problem

Quite surprisingly given DKs playing career and his part in our superb midfield when he was a player then our CM problems still continue and go unaddressed.

Yesterdays performance once again underlined this and just like a boxer that dominates the centre of the ring then teams that dominate the centre of midfield are usually the better team.

The amount of space given to the Halifax midfield allowed their number 10 to continually pass the ball around at ease and the equaliser was on the cards.
The manner of the equaliser again showed the lack of urgency in the team to get out of the defensive structure and close down the ball.

Wedgbury for all his attributes is basically a 3rd centre half and is very effective from a defensive perspective but this allows the opposition to dominate the CM and the area of the pitch around the centre circle.

If we are going to continue with a 442 formation then DK needs to make sure it is 442 and not 4132 which is how it seems at the moment.
Unfortunately Deverdics and Kelly were almost anonymous yesterday which compounded the problem even more and with Wright not even on the bench then we had no options.

DK has to address this problem with his last piece of player recruitment. IMO.

We literally havent had a midfield all season. We've had six in defence and a massive hole in the middle. Tinpot teams have run us ragged.

Unfortunately a midfield 4 with Rutherford, Kelly and Deverdics is weak as piss, this has been a problem all season.

We've done alright to sit 2 points off top with 13 games left and with only 6 defeats then by the sound of that. The tinpot teams can't have run us that ragged.

I’d like a midfield 3 of Wedgbury,Wright and Deverdics.

Kelly isn’t the answer. He plays like a crab everything sideways or back to the back 4.

Think Smith and Pearson ran forward with the ball more than him.

I’d have Wright and Wedgebury back in the middle, plus Kelly’s set plays for a disgrace for a professional footballer.

Either DK sees something in our midfield players that we don't or he has wasted January in not signing a decent midfield player..Who was the midfield player who we made 4 bids for?

Disagree. Even in games we have won then the opposition has had for too much of the ball in midfield and this is the main reason that we also have so many draws.

Most games this season our midfiled have been dominated by the opposition, somehow we've managed to grind a result out, mainly due to having a six man defence.
