Sutton and their 'plastic' pitch
If Sutton manage a promotion place will they be allowed into Division 2 as they have an artificial pitch? If not then what will happen? Surely they must have plans in place? |

Re: Sutton and their 'plastic' pitch
Under current rules I’m led to believe that they would have to rip it up and change it but belief in the vicinity is that they are prepared to do so for League Football. Recently moved about 20mins away from Sutton hence the opinion. Apparently the long term gain is enough to make it worth their while if they do get up.

Re: Sutton and their 'plastic' pitch
And if they don't rip their artificial pitch up and replace with grass they face a double relegation.
It's a sad situation really - at this level artificial pitches provide a potentially massive income generator for the local community which can be utilized all year around - but these are the current rules - perhaps they will change in time. |

Re: Sutton and their 'plastic' pitch
If they don't replace it they get relegated!
The jokers down the road must be willing that to happen as another "Get Out Of Jail Free Card!" appears out of the blue!

Re: Sutton and their 'plastic' pitch
I think it’s more of a case of the league saying that there has to be a desire to go up and not just make money...not saying I agree but I do think they have an advantage by having a different standard match day playing surface. Imagine it as a pool cloth that is ridiculously faster than the standard, it is an advantage to be used to it no matter what folks say (and if you don’t believe it then you don’t know your pool nor football - it’s like playing golf on Lino!) I’m still hoping that we’ll get up but I do have us finishing fourth in the prediction which leaves us in one of the most difficult positions to get up :0( COYR please prove me wrong!!!

Re: Sutton and their 'plastic' pitch
I don’t think they get relegated this season, that rule starts from next season I read. They have an option to turn down promotion but the league fear it might mean the future second spot is taken away hence they have brought the relegation rule in as of next year but it was to late to change the rules for this season. If they choose not to go up only one will be sent down I also read it will not go to the runners up, I’m not 100% but I did read this elsewhere.
