Smith 7 - standard
Pearson 7 - standard
Wedgbury 8 MOM - everywhere, great engine, must sign new contract soon as we'd be lost without him
Kelly 7 - decent game actually, worked and battled hard
Deverdics 5 - looked very lightweight and struggled playing on the right being left footed. Set pieces worse than Rutherford and Kelly on this display
Holroyd 6 - quiet, better when moved up front 2nd half but wasted wide
Boden 6 - good assist but otherwise a typically frustrating performance
Quigley 6 - great goal but not much else, lost more headers than he won and looks
Unfit

Wright 6 - added bite to midfield and late shot from long range almost rebounded for an undeserved winner
Franks 5 - bad miss after said Wright shot, looked lightweight before that
Mackreth - not on long enough

Would change Pearson to an 8, Smith to a 6, otherwise agree with all of that. Dunn and Jennings could definitely be dropped for Dibble and Raven, can't see them being any worse and it might give them a kick up the arse to realise they need to up their game during the run in. Both are capable of better. Deverdics was also poor. I was also disappointed with Quigley for most of the match. Their number 27 (Downer?) is so poor unless the ball is in the air, I was willing him to just push the ball past him and run - over the course of the game, I'm sure he could have skinned him several times over if he'd just had a go. To be fair, most of the service he received was long balls, and they knew how to deal with them.

Plus points, Roberts was very solid, Kelly had one of his better games, Wedgebury covered every blade of grass, and Pearson just gives everything. He's the sort of player opponents must hate coming up against. Wins every 50/50 ball, talking constantly, in the refs ear all the time. Must be a horrible bastard to play against but fantastic to have in our side.

A point away at Sutton is decent as a standalone result but we really have got to stop drawing against lower teams if we want to challenge for the title. If we don't beat Solihull tomorrow, I think the title is beyond us.

Dunn and Jennings won't be dropped.

Quigley's scored 4 in 5. Surely it's nuts to say you're disappointed in him. His job is to put the ball in the back of the net and he's doing exactly that.

Deverdics has been largely disappointing so far though. Looked decent at Guiseley but extremely average in the last 2. At Dover he looked too good for this league, so I'm baffled. Surely he'll improve.

I am not an expert on synthetic pitches but from my limited experience of Cefn Druids and Sutton's 3G pitch I would say they do not match a well-kept grass pitch, such as we now have at the Racecourse. 4G pitches may be better but the pitch was bobbly, the bounce was untrue and inconsistent, and the ball is very difficult to control. IMHO, it would be a mistake to allow such pitches in the FL.

As for the game, I thought we did mostly OK but we again give away stupid free-kicks and switch off. I think the criticisms of Dunn and Franks are a bit unfair: Dunn did what he could do for their goal, and his last minute save was not 'run of the mill stuff'; Franks failed to control the ball due to the pitch surface.

Onwards to Solihull, where the pitch will probably be a mud-bath, and the surface will be energy sapping. They may be on form but no excuses here on in. Hope DK makes the necessary changes to win the game.
