Read it again - I wasn’t saying that any person needs a pyschological study - it’s this bizarre situation where someone who is so plainly lazy and contributes ( Halifax game apart) very little , is all of a sudden lauded as being a key player - he isn’t. His so called “assists” have ( Tranmere Quigley goal excepted) been bog standard passes, something that you would expect any striker to be doing and more regularly to boot. During this so called golden spell he has scored a grand total of 1 goal, to add to his two earlier in the season; he must have the worst goals per minute played record of any striker we have had since we have been down here.

For me, Boden is dreadful slow, and has the physicality of a crisp packet. It goes to show how low we have gone when we regard Boden as acceptable.

although he is twice the player Mackreth is and better than Hurst. Mackreth in the squad is a low point - IMO.

Put it in another context - Quigley was very poor at Solihull but 'may' have fared better with Boden alongside him as he has in recent games.

But when Quigley was withdrawn for the last 20 minutes I would rather have had Boden on the bench than having to rely on the totally ineffective Mackreth who so far has contributed one good performance for less than half a match v Eastleigh (home) - however we look at it there was nowt on the bench to bring on who could have made an impact.

The crisp packet physicality is interesting though - and Boden does look weak - I was impressed with Solihull in comparison - we were a team of drwarfs in comparison - perhaps that's what we need - a few more bigger, taller, stronger players who don't get pushed off the ball so easily - especially in the midfield area. When Deverdics signed I thought we had sorted out a problem area but have been massively disappointed - he's not playing centrally and again seems to be another individual who gets easily brushed off and comes second place in the tackling department.

What really struck me at Solihull was our reliance on the long ball - mostly by Dunn but also by the defence. Lost track of the number of times the ball was hit high into the night sky right into the jaws of their back line - all must have been well over 6 ft tall and they won virtually everything - but we didn't seem to grasp it and continued - only way passed them would have been to work the ball on the floor with pace, turning them and getting behind them but we seem to be a one trick pony with little imagination and give away possession far too easily.
Solihull demonstrated far more movement and guile than us - if that shot that hit the post had gone in we would have had a RP meltdown on here !

I agree our players do need to be physically stronger, or we need to bring those players in.

However we're also lacking mental strength in too many areas. It's clear to see that players like Pearson and Wedgebury have got this in spades but this isn't enough. But again mostly this in the attacking side of the team.

IMO those of weak body/will would include:

Mackreth
Boden
Kelly
Deverdics
Franks
Jennings
Smith - good defender but he needs someone commanding next to him, which has been shown in both spells with us
Quigley - despite his size

In a squad the size of ours that's a lot of players.

I think you are wrong.

Boden competes extremely well against very physical defenders. He also wins his fair share of headers.

Bodes also has a superb first touch and vision, but isn't the fastest I agree.
