Re: 10 Points Lost from Winning Positions in 2018 (Aldershot Reaction Thread)
Apology accepted and returned to you Foxy.
I guess it might be easier for me since I only have to listen every week and we grind out results. I am a glass half full person. Our league position is more than acceptable for me and we must be doing something right, even if its not good to watch. Keates changed things first half today, as a lot of people wanted, but it didnt work. At least he set out to be a bit more offensive., after Tuesdays poor showing. We did seem to be more comfortable second half with a 4 4 2. I also think a lot of the teams around us wont fancy playing us going forward. We played miles better without deverdics and franks, they have added nothing

Kelly is better than Deverdics on the left; to my extreme incredulity. I watched Deverdics closely for the first 20 minutes of the match and he touched the ball twice; once a poor touch from a throw in and the other a block on the half-way line. That was it. I wasn't impressed with his signing but I didn't think he'd be this bad.

To be fair give them time to settle in to our way of playing, done judge them after a couple of appearances, I agree at the moment they aren't improving us, but give them time we can't just keep saying players are crap after 2 or 3 appearances it's silly. Maybe it's too many changes in one go I thought Wedgebury was awful today, yes he chases everything puts himself about but he can't pass the ball a few yards. Sometimes you have to give the opposition credit and they first half controlled the game and we scored against the run of play, but give credit to our players they were better second half because for once we didn't always stand off them and got stuck in, we lack composure in the middle of the park instead or doing the creative stuff we keep hoofing it forward just anywhere, but I still maintain the result about right in the end both sides had changes to score more. Next week will be another tough one at Ebbsfleet if they beat us from 8th position they are only 2 points behind us. Posted via mobile theme |

Anything other than top spot is deemed "not good enough", following last year and the major shake up afterwards, the playoffs were the target and the thing with targets is you don't always hit them. A bit of perspective is needed, I hope to god we do make the playoffs and go as far as we can but if it doesn't work this year it's not the end of the world and the rebuilding can continue. Small steps and we go from strength to strength. |
