I seriously haven't got a clue what they do in training apart from twating balls as long as they can at quigley.

I dont buy how good Adershot are either, we just made them look good by being a pub side.
Some good points, Dix. Aldershot are portrayed as some kind of world beaters... and yet, with 10-11 games to go, same points and slightly better goal difference. Nothing between us, really.

Big A - some good questions.

For me the problems all start with Wedgbury as the defensive CM player as this basically make the 442 very dysfunctional. His defensive qualities are good and along with Pearson and Manny he has been one of our most consistent performers.

However.......his ball retention and passing abilities are extremely limited as we saw yesterday and he provides very little going forward. This is OK if we had effective midfielders in front of him - but we don't.

So in effect we have 3 CBs and should therefore push both FBs further forward, but neither Roberts/Jennings is that good going forward and with Dunn we have a back 6.

I think Quigley has definitely improved our attacking threat and by the brief look of Ainge yesterday I think he will also provide a bit more physicality up front.

This therefore leaves 3 midfield places available and as it stands IMO none of the ones we have are good enough

" Aldershot were outstanding....." It could have been the obvious ineptitude of the opposition.

If we could get the ball down and attack teams we'd have battered them, they were there for the taking at the back. Unfortuantely, we couldnt string a pass together never mind launch an attack.Yesterday is one of the most inept performances I've seen for years, including the Mills era.

To make things worse, the system wasnt working from the first mintue, didnt work on Tuesaday either, and our management team just stood there like muppets.

Rutherford remains our best winger, yet we've tried Kelly, Deverdics, Franks, Mackreth and Holroyd out there.

We're still short of quality out-wide but we're not short of bodies, which will be costing us in wages. We don't have a small squad anymore.

Hopefully Ainge turns out to be the partner Quigley needs, and hopefully they do get played together.

Reasons for Optimism: Part 1.
We are on a downward spiral not upwards. Weeks ago the title was being talk about now it's whether we will even make it into the play offs. Will be a disaster if we don't make the playoffs and if we don't then Keates only has himself to blame for being anti-football and playing scared and negative throughout the entire season.

If Keates grew a pair and played Quigley and Ainge from the start yesterday, we would have won that game.

Ainge looked knackered after coming on the 87th minute. He looks a long way off being match fit, no way he could’ve started yesterday.
