Re: Suspensions
Why did the referee not use his spray to indicate where the free kick should be taken from in the Holroyd incident?

Re: Suspensions
I agree, that seems very odd for a straight red.

Re: Suspensions
But it was a straight red in about the 5th minute of the game - I too thought he would have been suspended for 3 games. Some of our bookings have been totally avoidable. Regarding Holroyd on Saturday - he was repeatedly kicking the ball back to where he thought their free kick should have been taken - everytime he kicked it back the Shots player kicked it forward - you could see it coming a mile off - I thought he would have been OK when the ref approached but then when the ref arrived between the two players he did a simply idiotic act and kicked the ball away again - no complaints he got what he deserved - since his form has dipped he has picked up several yellows in recent games. As much as I am a fan of Pearson he seems to be like a ticking time bomb - over reacting and remonstrating with the referee every game, pushing them to the limit - dependent on who the ref is some caution him others don't but again when we really, really need him for a big game / any game he could be missing on an avoidable suspension. Jennings form has dipped - to me he is still an attacking outlet but seems to have faded dramatically in defending the left flank. In recent games including Sutton away he tried to dribble his way out of danger only to be dispossessed - similarly on Saturday he was often out of position resulting in Pearson having to move from the centre out to the flank leaving us exposed in the centre - the back 4 has not looked so solid at times but granted, in Sutton & Aldershot we have been playing better quality opposition who perhaps showed up our frailties. |

I think Pearson & Wedge (both on 8) need to avoid more than 1 yellow out of the next two games then they'll be ok unless they get to 15 which would be 3 matches. |
