The quotes were 100% true as and when they were written / recorded. Keates has not been lying.

I have no idea on contracts or the deals etc, but as a wider point however keeping a manager against their will would not be great motivation.

Further there could be a clause for higher league offers or anything. Much like if we had clauses in that if we get relegated we could boot managers out.
