Default Andy Davies

Now 5/4 favourite 😑 IMO Carl Darlington is the tactical nouse , and Dean was the passion and determination . Maybe Andy is a good youth team coach ? But Manager material - debatable . The Guy Adam Owen seems a good choice , but Askey would be ideal , working on a far smaller budget and fanbase, and top of the league . We have Deans compo money to buy him out of his contract 👍

I agree I’d love Askey here but I don’t get why people think all it takes is to buy him out of his contract and he’ll come here. He lives and breaths Macclesfield, he’s a club legend there. Why would he come here atm anyway, they’re top of the league with a very good chance of going up. If they don’t, maybe we’re in with a shout, otherwise we need to look elsewhere.

Don’t think Davies is the answer, not enough contacts in the game for me, great assistant but wouldn’t want him as full time manager. Give him until end of the season whilst we’re looking for a new gaffer.

COuld the odds have shortened because Darlington is part time and bookies payout on manager when the caretaker manages X amount of games (i think Betvictor is 10) and if Davies is in charge until the end of the season + playoffs he will trigger that.

Just because he is doing it at Macclesfield doesn't automatically mean it will work anywhere else. Two fairly successful lower league managers - Keith Hill, (Rochadale) and John Coleman (Accrington) have had fairly unsuccesful spells at Barnsley and Rochdale before returning to their current clubs - Rochdale not doing too well at the minute, but are in all honesty probably struggling because of their cup run (which has earned the club nearly £1m)

Jose Mourinho wasn't a particularly well known (nor prolific) footballer, but he hasn't done too bad. Everyone has to start somewhere, and in all aspects success is by no means guaranteed. Whoever gets the job will get my backing (and will hopefully get us to the promised land)

This will be the exact reason. They will both get it till the end of season. Which should we hope include play offs so He'll have 10 games in charge where they will have to pay out.

I think its a huge risk appointing AD. Lets face it a lot of fans thought DK was a risk but he was a proven player, also proven at this level, had contacts (e.g. Pearson) and his playing career gave him the kudos for the management role.

How many players are going to say Andy who? and even Pearson in his interview said for the foreseeable future which I think you can take in 2 ways.

Personally I think it takes us back down the AM route and we know where that ended.

There's potential huge risk in appointing anyone who is going to plough up a lot of the stuff thats been acheived this last 12 months or so !
I wonder what Andy Davies actually wants himself?
Possibly he enjoys being number 2 and someone else who can take the managers role ,and allow this to continue , is perfect in my view !
Interesting times!

The odds are based on who fans are putting money on ..if someone was mad enough to lump a huge sum on gary mills then he would suddenly be favourite.

AD has it stands if appointed would be better qualified than Keates when he took over. I could be mistaken, but did DK have his B licence when appointed and qualified for this after his appointment. AD, if I understand correctly is fully qualified coach with an A licence. DK, had experience as a pro, captain and was learning his trade as manager with the backing of Andy and Darlo, how would his record look without them?

I would give him,if he is agreeable, till the end of the season, with the continued support of Darlington. 8 games, maybe 11. If it goes well, consider the options come May.
