If that's not the long term plan then it's a dangerous game to play. I'd get the long term choice in as soon as possible or we could find ourselves weeks behind the other teams in terms of new players etc.

That depends how quickly after the last game the appointment is made. When we did this with Mills (shudder) he was ready to go at season's end and the signings were made by the start of pre-season bar a couple of his pointless loans. Of the players we really need to keep only Holroyd isn't signed up already so it seems to me we're better off not rocking the boat and giving ourselves a better choice once games are all played.
