And it’s now become your hobbyhorse it seems.

We get it that you think synthetic pitches should be allowed in the EFL, but you can’t ignore the fact that Sutton knew the rules beforehand, and indeed, before this season started they have signed an irrecovable undertaking to comply with the rules of the EFL, should they win promotion. Rule 23.12.

If change is going to come, it’s too late for Suttons existing synthetic pitch, it seems.

Whether it's my hobbyhorse or not is neither here nor there. That's not a point that tends to be made by people winning an argument that's for sure. We all know that "they knew the rules", especially Sutton who are adapting to their lack of flexibility. I don't think that's a particularly strong defence of a weak policy, although clearly many use it to avoid the real issue, especially the Football League.

Ultimately, you want to play in the league, you play by their rules.

It may not be right but thems the apples.
It will likely be relaxed or amended at some point in the future, but as is a lot of stuff in life: their viewpoint is likely 'if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it'!

sutton are only in this league position as a result of the very good fa cup run last season and the generosity of Arsenal waving their cut from the match against sutton.

i think i heard they had 2.5 million from it .
good luck to them to take advantage of that this season with better players .
if only we could do the same .................

Thing is Junior, I doubt Anyone is keeping score on who’s “winning”, except you.
No matter what point anyone else has made, your view has remained consistent, which is your prerogative of course, but it doesn’t really encourage debate, or empathy, in my opinion.

But, if you need an argument, I would say that the policy, far from being weak, is the opposite:

The policy is clear, it is being enforced, and Sutton, as the entity most affected by it currently, are going to work within it.

Well, if you don't want a debate to get dirty, stick to the point rather than make cheap points about it being my hobbyhorse. Doing that just makes it look like you've run out of points but want the last word anyway. This is a discussion board, if people make points I disagree with then I'll say so. If you disagree in turn, verbalise that or ignore it. Stick to that and everything else is tickety boo and debate flows just nicely. Only non-points stop debate.

Dont have a cow.
There is nothing to debate. All I have done is point out what rules Sutton signed up to.
I don't care whether football is played on grass, plastic, mud or paper, to be honest.
It just depends on the rules as to which ones are allowed.

He does that all the while. A very tedious person who doesn’t quite seem to have been in school on the day that they handed intelligence out.

Tedious, I’m sure, but they handed out intelligence at the school I attended.
