He said he was working in industry and had no involvement in football. Was visibly moved by returning to the scene of his triumphs and recalling old times , old mates , and fierce rivals! Good bloke.

Yeah, that free kick for Hughes's goal, then the corner for Humes's header - fantastic deliveries.

His header bending into the top corner the round before at Peterborough was pretty special too, was quite a shock when I got home to find out he'd scored it, had no idea who it was at the time. Incredible night that was, 2000 reds in Peterborough on a Tuesday night, non stop noise from both sets of fans (until Rooster's brace)...

Fergie was good, but I always rated Ward above him; Ward mainly played for us in a higher division than Fergie, was better in a dead ball situation, and not as slow, and certainly less arrogant.

Remember a game at Blackpool , a mini bus of Carlisle fans appeared in our midst on their way home from an early kick off somewhere. It transpired that the driver had been on holiday in the same place as Ward , when he came over to take a corner it was as if he was greeting a long lost friend.
Always thought he was a good bloke.
