Default How Do We Beat Boreham Wood

Despite all the moans and groans - some of which are justified, others which are not - we have a very important game on Monday; one that could resurrect our chances of promotion or bury us under a pile of rubble from the defunct kop. I am sure AD and CD will be devising some cunning plan back at Racecourse HQ, and hope they have the self confidence to start with a different XI. From what we have, I would pick the following:

—————————————-Dunn

Roberts————M Smith—————Pearson———Raven

Wright————--Wedgbury————Kelly————-Jennings

————————-Holroyd—————Quigley

The brief would be simple:

Defenders defend;

Midfielders win the ball and get it wide quickly;

‘Wingers’, get to the bye-line and get the ball beyond their defenders;

Strikers, don’t be afraid to have a pop and score.

Simple stuff, but might just catch on!

I’d leave Jennings at left back but play raven right midfield and akil or franks left midfield

But still . we have no one who can beat a man and get a cross in

I think they are a different proposition this time around as they have been improving steadily in the transfer market each time.

I don't think we have a decent winger in the squad and we should look to have midfielders that can carry the ball forward regardless of whether it is to the by-line.

I am not sure Quigley/Holroyd works as Holroyd drops for the ball and we need a partnership further forward.

With Wedgbury sitting then the fullbacks have to be encouraged to get forward to support the midfield. The other midfielders then move forward to support the front 2.

I would get Holroyd back on the left where he seemed to score a couple earlier in the season with Kelly and Wright and give them all license to get further forward to stop the other team dominating the midfield.

Same as normal really; hope for a moment or two of individual class from Quigley.

I would like to see Wright and Ainge get more game time with an eye on the play-offs.

Drop deverdics for ainge and put holroyd left wing. I like akil Wright but Kelly has stepped it up last couple of games and deserves to keep his place. If Carrington is fit then he should take the place of devs or Franks on the bench.
