Agree with this, watched Murtagh closely yesterday and he absolutely schooled our midfield, looked like a bigger Dom Vose with a bit of bite and work rate, played with his head up all game and wanted the ball all the time, best player on the park by a mile.

There’s not many here to build from. Keates left us at a bad time and sadly in a bad place!
Totally agree. If they had a player like say Cook or Rowe up front in there squad yesterday would have been even more embarrassing and as you say they rightly would have won the league.

Pains me to say this but we need to take a look at what Macclesfield have done this season. Durrell was deemed not good enough for us yet has had a very good season with Macc and chipped in with 8 goals, more than our entire midfield has scored. Rooney may have pi%%ed on his chips here but boy have we missed his goals. Same with Johnny Hunt. Criticised here as not good enough yet the season he went didn't he have 12 or 13 goals? What would we give for that off of a midfielder this season.

Looking at Maccs squad they are all free transfers and loans. How has Askey been able to win the league on what is a shoestring budget, what can we learn from that? Why are we persisting with players who aren't cutting the mustard?

We were outplayed yesterday , Very few players looked interested and only made real effort in a desperate last 10 to 15 minutes.
Personally thought that Boden did OK. Made space to receive the ball, won it a number of times and laid the ball off well, but for Quigley going a little early we could have been level when he played a lovely reverse pass through the defence.
Holroyd was pretty anonymous but he must get really p!ssed off having to track back to make up for a non existent midfield.
I think it was more of a case that they were better than us rather than no-one interested. After conceding the conned penalty I thought we did at least try towards the end of the first half but in reality man for man they were better than us in nearly every position.

The midfield formation for me is where all the problems stem from even against lower teams with Wedgbury constantly in the back 4 rather than trying to make his mark in the centre of the pitch - he just plays far too deep and tries to get involved in far too much without having the talent to do so.

In a 442 formation is has to be 2 solid banks of 4 that push as a unit quickly to support the front 2 and defend as a unit, we are all over the place.

There were too many times when Boden should have been further forward supporting Quigley, Holroyd should have been at LM in front of Jennings and Franks on the right in front of the ball groper but the shape on the pitch was awful.

Is it the players fault or the way we use them. Lots of examples of players unable to play for us , but elsewhere they don't seem to be the same players. Is it tactics or do we use players out of position?

What you're saying Pagl simply put is our coaching and tactics are really bad.

Well have we seen much improvement of players under the current coaching?
I think DK did a great job off the field with a lot more discipline and also brought a better quality player into the squad in quite a few cases but a lot just haven't worked out.
