Default Chester melting down yet again - resignations, infighting, the usual etc etc

Chairman of the supporters group resigning, another board member going.

Director, well ex-director posted https://twitter.com/blacon_blue/stat...14767954096128 "Despite a deep love for my club, after a weekend of reading some frankly awful lies about a good friend and colleague, I decided to resign my role on the @CityFansUnited board at lunchtime today.... I know these attacks stemmed from within the club and that was it for me....My problem was that I felt somebody at the club was attempting to undermine work of CH and the football working group. I was very disappointed at the club's lack of support for Calvin, who is a very experienced volunteer"

The chairman "has decided to step away with immediate effect after stating that his views differ from the majority of the current board"

Give it a rest.

It makes me truly thankful and grateful for the board we have.

Fan ownership works for some but not most. I’d have thought with the way Chester City ended, they’d have been all over it.

However, Vaughan gave them a few happy moments including promotion to the League.

Fan ownership really does need firm foundations otherwise it falls around you as chester are finding out.

Any form of effective ownership needs firm foundations . The problem with fan ownership is that you can only go as far as the number of fans you have , even with firm foundations. Chester’s falling gates (sub 2000) meant they could no longer compete in the top half of the division, they had to cut their cloth but they didn’t do it by enough, hence their current problems.

Fortunately our gates mean we can be competitive but are extremely unlikely to ever win the league. But you can see how our likely maximum gate means that it would be very difficult to compete in League 1 , and any fall off in average gates in League 2 could put us in the sort of trouble that Chester are in now. Ultimately, for all fan owned clubs, somewhere along the line it will end in tears.
