Exactly...the 'myth' that our midfield is worse without Wedgbury is basically because of the general poor state of the CM itself.
Have Carra and Wright been tried together at CM or has Deverdics despite his poor form with us been tried at CM?

For me the biggest loss has been Pearson when he has been out and then we do struggle buts that because we are limited in real leadership on the pitch.
I don't class Jennings as a leader as he just moans at the ref or other players, Wedgburys leadership qualities are part of our overall problem as he seems to want to be involved in everything but without the real Keates/Harris/Fowler quality to actually deliver.

I just wish we could get another Penn type player in the midfield, pity that we didn't try for Turnbull when he was available for loan as Stockport seem to have improved considerably since his arrival.

No myths. Wedgebury stiffens-up the midfield. He's never going to be a cultured player but he is usually effective at what he does.

Carrington is better at right-back than midfield. His time in midfield earlier in the season shows how effective he is.

Deverdics played in his 'preferred' position just behind the striker in first half at home to Aldershot, and he stunk the place out.

Our best midfield two is Wedgebury and Wright; that was proven earlier in the season when Wright replaced Carrington. However Wright is persona none grata at the moment, Kelly the journeyman is preferred.

I don’t think wedgebury or Akil Wright offer much. Wedgebury was bullied out of the game on Saturday, and everytime we have played a top 7 side he is ineffective.

I was very surprised we signed Akil on a two year deal. He didn’t do enough to warrant anything more than an extended loan as a squad player IMO. When we move away from this “covering every blade of grass” nonsense, and bring in players with more quality, we may finally get back to the FL.

Quality players cost money, and we clearly aren’t attracting personnel good enough for us to succeed. We don’t want to end up like Chester, but we also don’t want another ten years in the conference or below.

It's all down to individual views personally for me as Pagl says he stands out a little because the midfield itself is dire, he is a Rutherford in defence here there and everywhere without actually being able to pass, he is a wholehearted player and good in what we are a defensive set up, but it an attacking game we need better, as for Wright early in the season he showed some promise but is similar to Wedgebury defensive minded, the side lacks badly a creative midfielder and a midfield general to dictate our play, that plus a couple of half decent pacy wingers if we are going to play 442, then obviously we need some forwards who can actually score regularly, Quigley looks the business but looks like a player from the Welsh league at times. Having said that he is only young and can improve he needs a pacy forward alongside him. One of our weaknesses is lack of pace throughout

I think Wedgebury looks worse against the 'better' teams because ultimately he is our midfield. Kelly, Deverdics etc haven't really offered much else.
So when we come up against the better midfields we are overrun leaving Wedgebury stretched, leading to mistakes or simply chasing the game.

Wright is the best young central midfield prospect we've had in years. Being tall, strong and quick he's actually built for this division; and he showed up well earlier in the season.

But let's continue with Kelly running alongside attackers and playing nice little triangles in our half. Better yet we could go for Deverdics and his Olympic level pointing.

Can someone please tell me why we are not playing Wright even as a sub.
Something very worrying about this situation.

Very worrying given he has another 2 years after this season. That's going to be a very costly bench warmer.

If DK and the management team thought he was good enough for 2 1/2 years then I don't understand why he is not playing especially given the form of Deverdics and even Kelly to a point and as for Franks getting a starting place before him then its mind blowing.
