Well Darlington is a defensive minded coach for Wales.

If we go up it will obviously be hailed as a success, more for getting out of this God forsaken league and no-one will remember many highlights from this season.

When I played football it was because you enjoy it when younger, grow to be part of a team and those lucky enough and good enough, go on to be pros. Would be interesting to get an honest reds player's take on this. Play to tactics and be hard to beat or loosen the shackles and play. We all know we haven't got bad players here.
The team I play for was an attacking team, bottom of the league and conceding awful goals. Switched to a more organised defensive play to stop us getting hammered every week, won 5 on the bounce and pulled clear from the bottom. Sometimes being organised, stubborn, setting out to frustrate the opponents and catching them on the break works. I understand cautious play isn’t entertaining but we’re the highest we’ve been in years. I’d prefer cautious playoffs than attacking lower mid table.

Good teams build their defence first , which we have done , and then improve the rest of the team.
I still think this is a 2/3 year project and because progress has been good our expectations have been raised.
Regarding CD wasn't his first season with New Saints average and then they took off thereafter?

It's what's called the 'Wales way', Chris Coleman's Wales were exactly the same, all age groups play the same or a variant of it.

Watching English v Wales women's match and the comparisons between the Welsh team, men's national team (post euro's) and our own team, it is clear that there is an obvious slant towards the old 'if we can't win, make sure they can't '.
Begs the question, was it all Keates fault for some of the performances this season? He has brought in numerous attacking options but we end up with a record number of clean sheets. Is the Darlington effect holding us back, trying to play drawing board football taught to internationals but with a conference team.

Just curious what others think and is it too late change the mentality this late in the season?

Off on the pop now and if I get up early enough, trip to hants tomorrow for more loyal suffering.

Currently match is goalless, but I think we all know how it will end. Hope I'm wrong, come on Wales!
from a purists point of view the football has been frustrating, i understand that and can agree, i was boiling as much as anyone after the last game but this team is a work in progress nowhere near the finished article.
we have had huge turn over in players, some haven't worked some have anything achieved this season surely is a bonus next season was to be the one to be judged by.
To say Keates has held us back! look where we have been the last 4 years, surely we have progressed.

It will be interesting to see what style of football Keates adopts next season with Walsall.
