Think a lot of it is down to our managers and the tactics and formation we play. Playing Boden as a target man when he isn't. Again Quigley not a target man. No real general in Midfield, for( me Kelly isn't (best of a bad bunch) |

Re: Short Term Midfield Loan
We have some decent players on the staff, it is our set-up which makes them look poor. From what I've seen we are set for everyone to be defensive, and sit far too deep. This invites pressure. The full backs need to sit further forward. ATM there is too large a gap between them and the wingers, this means the wingers drop back to cover the gap giving them too much ground to make up going forward. This results in crosses and passes to the forwards coming from deep which are easy to defend against.

Re: Short Term Midfield Loan
We too often lose the ball quickly uptop while trying to attack, then the opposition puts pressure on the defence in the counter over and over, it's then that we concede things like corners and free kicks as the defence scrambles to rectify the mistake. I thought Akil and Wedgebury (especially Akil) did ok yesterday but if we keep allowing teams to pressure the defence all game (e.g corner after corner) we will leak goals. Quigley was too selfish and missed numerous opportunities to pass to players in threatening positions and lost the ball, still a great striker though.

Re: Short Term Midfield Loan
In the summer if were in this league or above we need a experienced player to come in and dictate the play. That's what we're missing in midfield, especially lately when the opposition has gone down to 10 men. A player similar to Keates, Russell Penn last season or Whittaker from Macc. If we get that experienced head in the middle alongside Wedge and Akil we would be much better. Quite often the case this season we are over run in midfield because a lot of teams play 433, so something needs change on the formation front too.

No one is to blame for this however as we had to let Keates go and didn't have much choice other than to appoint Andy and Darlo 'till the end of the season. Now more than ever we need to get behind the staff and players rather than moan and protest, even though it's frustrating. Hopefully we have learned from the last three games and can use the experience to push on.
