I can only conclude that many ST holders and casual visitors have decided not to attend due to our poor run of form.

To me it's a very strange one - I believe attendance should mean exactly that - how many people are actually present watching the game rather than including seats that have been paid for by people who don't turn up for whatever reason - but that's the system so be it.

It's make or break tomorrow at Brisbane Road - if enough of us were encouraged enough by recent results and form we would have filled the away allocation down there - it's a shame as it always looked an attractive fixture to go to back last August - a good result and 3 points could mean the difference between a packed house and a ghost town for the Fylde game.

Two wins are required - nothing else will do.

On the thread subject can anyone find the old 76 footage of Palace beating us 2 - 4 in that infamous match. It's been posted before and got a feeling it's hidden within one of the 'Big Match' episodes introduced by the late Brian Moore with Terry Venables & Kenny Sansom as guests. Losing those last two home games was the definition of 'devestating' and two games that changed our history of what might have been under John Neal - possibly a case of 'the boots' on the other foot if we can win our next two games.
Here you go Red Light, the goals from the game at a packed Racecourse https://youtu.be/lzFwj2n1Hy0 the goals start at 36:40. Nightmare result.

Terry Venables in one of his biographies rated that game and win as one of the top games in his long career, probably because it was his first season as a young manager.

Some interesting comments on the Palace supporters site on that game 34 Years Ago Today: Wrexham 2 Palace 4 - CPFC BBS.

How the fortunes of the 2 teams have differed over the 41 years since.

Thanks Wiltshire Red.
Brings back some memories - to say the least.
Just looked up the attendances for those last two matches. Remembering that we only needed a single point from them to go up.
Wednesday 11 May 77 Wrexham 2 Palace 4 attendance 18,451
Saturday 14 May 77 Wrexham 0 Mansfield Town attendance 20,754

The video coverage takes us back to different times - a reminder of the disabled supporters pale blue 3 wheelers pitch side, a jam packed Kop and the Tech End containing a big away following mixed with a fair few home fans who can be seen celebrating our two goals scored that end.

That last game v Mansfield saw 3 sets of supporters in The Racecourse hanging on the result. Wrexham fans together with away team Mansfield fans and a sizeable number of Palace fans who travelled up.

What a great time to be a Wrexham supporter in the 1970s, the cup runs, European football, even the floodlit league games with the reserve team of youngsters used to get good crowds and scoring lots of goals, and many of those youth players made it to the first team to complement the experienced players brought in by John Neal and Arfon.

We live in hope that the good times will return, that’s what keeps us going over the last 10 years or so.
