Yes and we have put 2 & 2 together many times before just to be horribly wrong. The good news we haven't got a clue and therefore less chance of the cat getting out of the bag too soon and any agreements coming unstuck.

That said, we can hope. I was at Macc T a few weeks ago and there was a real concern with the staff that Askey was going to leave, he is a real legend with them, not just what he has achieved this year but his service and he is real nice guy Mind you the Wxm job had just become available and they knew previously he had thought about switching.

Off the pitch Macc are really struggling, but they will now get a good injection from the FL and their chairman may be prepared to use it to keep their man. My other concern with this bit of RP speculation is Askey has trebled his esteem and now is his optimum time to negotiate his next job and contract. No doubt there will be a few clubs willing to let him name his price and yesterday's comments was a plea to come and get me.

I've had an interesting Twitter exchange with John Mills the upshot of which is it seems we have offered the manager's job but 'can't force them to take It'...

So there's me thinking we basically had the next man lined up , hence he will work with D and D so they are staying in their posts , but now it's in no way certain this guy will come here , so how can they say the next man who could be anyone will work with D and D . I feel a long drawn out saga coming on i'm afraid .

Askey was in the running the last twice for our manager role. The second time we couldn't afford the compo so we had to plump for the cheap option in keates. So no real need for an interview this time. Maybe just a call or two and a meeting to get the paperwork done.

Board meeting to discuss replacement concludes we shall approach someone. There is no noise regarding interviews like the 2 previous appointments.

Darlo and Davies agree to take the reins until the end of season. We all know they don't want the job permanently.

It's all been very quiet...extremely quiet as if new manager is lined up.

Asensio is seen casting his eye over our players the last few weeks. He has past links to Macc.

Askey was royally pissed off with the Macc owner after the late payment fiasco.

Today's comments just after you have won the title??
Apparently the issue with Askey was the wages his assistant Steve Watson was demanding.

If it is Askey, and I hope it is, then at least he has done the honourable thing and stayed until the end of the season. More than can be said about some other managers.

There must be a back-stop option if the offer isn't taken-up.
