Re: Could you be a manager
It all depends on who I was. Me myself could not do it as I have not been a pro and I have not won anything in terms of football. Could keates of taken us up? The answer to that is yes, as the players respected keates and played for him. Could Bellemy or Saunders of taken us up? Yes again players respect ex pros like them. Could any of our fans or even Andy Davies take us up? Not with this squad of players no.

Re: Could you be a manager
Maybe those people who have an aptitude for management are already in the game at pyramid level.
Regarding harrypothead's post, can you offer some clarification please? You state that none of our fans, nor Andy Davies could take us up with our present squad, but feel that Keates, Saunders and Bellamy could do so (with our present squad.) Is that correct? That statement assumes that those of us who watch football week-in, week-out, have no idea what it takes to motivate (or kick) full-time professional players out of their comfort zones, yet Keates - who saw them fail to put most of our opponents to the sword - would have done so. Evidence of the under-performances in front of goal under Keates was overwhelming, probably because the same mistakes were being repeated again and again on the field and in the technical area (i.e. late and wrong subs.) Try-Fail-Adjust is an adage that applies in virtually every aspect of life. We saw lots of the first two elements, but the adjusting was hardly ever visible, nor were any improvement in the standards as a consequence. Somewhere between a rank amateur manager and a top World club manager lies a threshold below which the standard is inadequate for us. Granted, everybody has to start somewhere - even the most successful - but it is high time we employed someone lying ABOVE that threshold already instead of pretending to be a training club for well-intentioned but inadequate wannabes. Players MUST have basic skills, MUST have a sense of discipline, MUST have a willingness to improve their techniques and skill levels. If they play for us, they mustn't imagine that they are walking over us as a stepping stone to fame and fortune elsewhere. Instead, they MUST accept that if they develop the right way with us, they and we will become better as a result - THAT is what makes a player a real asset to any club, as opposed to the one-trick donkeys that have come here and let us down so consistently. |
