Suffice to say, all of a sudden the usual antagonists on the Tranmere boards are nowhere to be seen. We can't talk, of course, having spectacularly bottled the start of our season too which has cost us the title.

I must admit, I was looking on enviously when you were battling for the top spot and we were languishing in the lower half. I was starting to wonder if SpiritOf78 and DaiKwondo were right - can you really win promotion while not scoring goals? I thought you were going to mount a real challenge for a while, especially when you seemed to have found a solution to your goalscoring issues, and right up until the last week I still held out hope for a Tranmere v Wrexham playoff final but it wasn't to be.

With no disrespect meant, I really hope we're not playing you next season.

The ghost of no Centre Forward and no Centre Midfield has come to haunt us as predicted by many. I am sure you have read many threads on here with the same for and against arguments and how we stayed in the top 5 is quite staggering considering the problems we have had all season.

We had a few fluked wins (1 at Prenton when you had a real off day) and the poor form of others masked huge deficiencies in the team.

However spurred on by DKs desire and commitment we hung on in there and I think the non league world will be poorer for not having a Wrexham/TRanmere final

Its now down to a bit of luck with any 1 of 6 teams that could win it.
Tranmeres goal scorers, Aldershots football, Fyldes ability to blow teams away, Ebbsfleet on a good run and then the divers of Boreham Wood and Sutton who probably need a turn around in form.

It’s just a shame wedgebury isn’t good enough. Hard work alone does not make you a good footballer! He has been given the run around in most of the games against top 7 sides, and will continue in the same vain next season.

I've read a lot about Aldershot's footballing prowess, but they were vey ordinary at Prenton Park recently and resorted to some very non-league tactics. Lots of hoofing.

On the other hand, Flyde destroyed us in the first half at their place, and our 4-1 win at Prenton Park was more than a little flattering. They're the team I fear most.

We've won plenty of big games, just not the ones that win you promotion! I've never seen us go up, and I'm 0 out of 2 at Wembley. Hopefully that'll change this year.
