Apart from goalkeepers what youth players have the club produced the last 10 years?

" I also want young players developed if possible, but not at the cost of relegation (which is, in reality, what has happened at Chester, they've played youth (for whatever reason) and have got relegated). But of course, Chester is showing us the way forward."

""Did we not have a team comprising of youth player graduates and local lads who saw us relegated? Relegation is a mute point anyhow that you won't let go. ". And you're advocating a return to this why? And why is relegation a moot (not mute) point and the very team in this division who you say has done well has been relegated doing it."

These are what I said about teams playing youth players getting relegated. ALL of them were about the Chester team of last season.
Yet I misquote you? Jog on.
If I was the only one saying this, I'd think maybe I'd misunderstood, but you've been called out by numerous posters over the last few pages on both this and the Pearson posts. Or all we all wrong? If that is the case then maybe you should look at how you word your posts, rather than blame us for not being able to read.
Now pipe down.
Nice try liar.

'and when you look at clubs who play a lot of youth they get relegated (which is relevant however much you say it isn't). '

I asked for proof on this this, not on promotion.

On misquoting me

'Wimbledon? Had a academy since inception, not a penny of league funding when non league'

Who are the many posters who've called me out on this? You and whom?

It's clear to me you have an unhealthy fixation of all things Chester, saying lads aren't in the squad on merit smacks of bitterness and jealously. Was that the case for the lads who we played last seaon, when Keates performed a brilliant balancing act, after all they barely featured the season just gone? If a Chester fan came on here saying that you'd see you're a*se, two players in two seasons they've developed and had nice fees for.

If a player of ours broke his leg and was out for months and we had to draft in a lad who wasn't consided as talented as his peers, but did extremely well for us and then got a move elsewhere, would you still claim it wasn't on merit?

It's hard not to be envious of what Chester have done, they've shown us up on this and some like you don't like it, so credit where credits due to Chester.

But they got relegated

Off the top of my head...

Jordan Davies
Johnny Smith
Andrew Fleming
Johnny Hunt
Neil Taylor

All gone on to clubs at a higher level.

Apart from Taylor who was at City previously its not that great a success then.

Because it has been continually run down, and those who come through it get less and less time to make a mark. It can't keep being about the players themselves but about the system that creates them.

Do we divert more money from the 1st team budget and be patient while the work takes hold as it won't be an overnight process?
Both have their merits.
Both are worthy of debate.
But some make it personal, or the move the goalposts. I've bitten, which I hate, but when that person has been called out by numerous people and still tries to twist it further and call me a liar, well I won't have it.
Rare but I said about 2-3 years ago I think the COE weren’t producing and the money would be better spent on the first team for the time being.

Any of our actual home grown local lads don’t seem to get very far except the odd exception. The only part of giving up the Coe for me is how low we have gone as a club BUT if it’s not producing why have it just until we are back in the league.

It’s just a blow and the sign of the times.

Bit of both. Joined us after being released when he was 16.

He came to us as a youth player, and came through the youth team. So he counts.

Is it substantially worse than other clubs of a similar size to us? If you count Maxwell and Ward (not sure why you wouldn't tbh) that's three current Welsh Internationals.

Accept the fact that we don't get FL funding then our record isn't too bad imo. The disappointing part is that most of the players we do produce who go on to bigger and better things don't really get a chance to contribute to the first team.
