Re: Transfer rumours, speculation and associated discussion - summer 2018
I have a sneaky feeling that Wedge is the type of player Ricketts will want here. We are in a league where you need some fighters in your team. Without them, your attacking more flair players won't get the ball to do their stuff. It's all about team balance, which keates and Davies got wrong. The team was too balanced towards being defensive. I would of liked to see Akil Wright in midfield a bit more last season, because he showed he had quality going forward with the ball during.pre season. I don't think we need much of a change to the squad, but what we are desperate for is some pace and a couple of strikers. We need the option in the team that when we get the ball, we can counter attack at pace. Looking at this squad we don't have that here. The opposition know that when they play us and that is why we have so many draws, because their defenders are finding easy to cut down play as soon as we get it. Remember the days that we could bring chiz off the bench, remember Grimsby at Wembley, they saw his.pace and dropped back, and he just ran and ran at them. Now that's the kind of football that exited me and to be honest I miss it. I rhink wedgebury is.key, I hope he stays as he is the best we have had at his job since Jay Harris. The team is screaming out for a ball playing midfield, pacey wingers and some strikers.
I'm not liking this having a go at our own players. They have qualities and I believe your Jennings type of players are good enough to get us up. Some people need to realise what level we are playing at, we arnt going to get all round quality players. We will sign players that we can afford, and if they give 100 per cent to the cause, then that's what we should be applauding, not their inability to pass 100 per cent all.the time. The squad this season did well until they lost their leader, and if we add to it we could go up next season. Let's get behind the players that are here, the staff that are here, and all move forward as one. Let's put last season's disappointment behind us and move on. In Ricketts we will hopefully get the job that keates started finished and that balance I was.talking about will be corrected.
