There isn’t any point in keeping a player at a club if he doesn’t want to be here.

Also in regards to transfer fees if the club doesn’t play ball then the player will just sit out his contract and take the money which was agreed it as simple as that.

I applaud the board and manager in taking this decision because it’s the correct one at this level and at all levels imo.

It’s a team game from manager down and if anyone doesn’t want to be part of the team ,let them go for the the sake of the team.
Agree. Once players want away it’s very difficult to keep them motivated and not become a ‘bad apple’.

I think there are better midfielders out there than Wedgbury.

If Walsall were looking to bid for him and build a defence around him at league 1 level, I would say keates will be out of a job by Christmas. He isn't as good as some make out. He's just a very good centre half at conference level. As soon as you move him up the leagues, and put him against faster strikers, I think he would struggle.
Grimsby fans I know reckon they shouldn't have released him Agree I don't think he could make the jump to L1 but I do think in L2 he could more than hold his own.

I do think in the case of Pearson and Smith though we should not sell this season even for silly money.

It depends on him, if someone comes in for him and he makes it known he wants to go the we would end up with about £50k or something that doesn't represent his true vale to us. If he says he doesn't want to leave then we could (and I expect would) be able to turn down any offer barring silly money like £300k.

I don't think he will want to leave unless it is to step up the leagues and I don't think teams higher up will be looking at him....just hope he doesn't become unsettled.

I have a feeling that several key positions will be "Polyfilla'd" with young Wolves loanee's next season.

Provided they are good enough and physically strong enough, and they are supported by good quality and experienced pros, I do not foresee too many problems.

We need pace and a better balanced squad than what we’ve endured these past seasons.

There’s a bit more to consider with Pearson, he’s not a young 20 year old single lad prepared to upsticks and move anywhere across the country.
He’s made the effort to move his family to Wrexham, are his kids in Wrexham schools? Is his Mrs settled with a job in the wrexham area?
Despite getting offers elsewhere it quite possibly wouldn’t be in the best interest of his family to upsticks and move everybody again, keeping the family settled and happy would be priority too

Hope so . After all the club have just got into the Premiership so the standard can't be all that bad. What chance Bradley Reid makes yet another comeback?

Spoke to him just before the end of the season said he loves the area its got everything he needs, where as Grimsby there wasn't much for him, He moved his family here but he said his missis is a northern girl and misses it a lot but had just got a job at the time so hopefully she will make friends and settle - his words

Good post Pearson has moved here and family comes first, if fans read what Wedgebury says in the bleader he has moved to be nearer his future wife, his comments about her being like an army wife and only seeing her a couple of days a week takes its toll on a relationship, it's not as if he is on premier or championship wages to move nearer the club, she might have a good job around Sheffield, an unsettled player would be a liability to us, we aren't losing a player that can't be replaced with better... The side needs some skill in the middle and some pace upfront.
