Re: Sam Wedgbury’s contract cancelled by mutual consent
I thought Wedgbury was a great player and I am sad he is going. He did exactly what you would want of a midfielder at this level and in a different formation would have been great (Very similar to Jay Harris for me).
My only consolation is that I don't think the abilities he had are too hard to replace. I think people expecting to make money on him are unrealistic. We didn't buy him, and you could argue having a fast start in the transfer market is better than faffing over a bit of money for him. |

id like to know why we are so soft with things like this. he is almost certainly going to be playing against us next year and we've just cancelled his contract

Re: Sam Wedgbury’s contract cancelled by mutual consent
Letting him go for nothing makes no sense at all. Hope the board have got him to sign some sort of document that doesn't allow him to sign for a rival club and whoever he signs for he has to give us his signing on fee. Why should he benefit from basically breaking his contract. When he came to us did we give him a signing on fee.

If Chesterfield is where he's heading we wouldnt get anything for him as they are 9 million in debt. I just hope Ricketts has a good replacement lined up. We willl see I suppose. |

If he wants to be closer to family then fair enough. But can’t see the sense in releasing him on a free. Surely we could have got some kind of a fee for him even if it was 5 or 6 grand it would have been something

Re: Sam Wedgbury’s contract cancelled by mutual consent
Heard this was likely a few days ago and the reasons why. Some things are more important than football and I'd rather not have someone here if they're not happy.
Everyone moaning about letting him go for free needs to remember we got Manny last summer in similar circumstances so we win some and lose some.
