"Following on from the retained list yesterday, Wrexham AFC announce that we have cancelled Sam Wedgbury’s contract by mutual consent.

Manager Sam Ricketts said, “I have been speaking with all the players who we have under contract to get people ready for next seasons challenge and I only want players who are 100% committed to that journey.

“Having spoken to Sam it was clear that he has been struggling with the distance of travel in for training and that he could not guarantee me the level of commitment for next season we will require."

Wasn't this predicted on here a few weeks ago? Shame as he did well for us, maybe could've held out for a few quid for him but guess if he was miserable it would unsettle the dressing room. Also doubt he fits into the more expansive style Ricketts wants as he can't actually pass a ball! Still I liked him and wish him luck, probably end up at chesterfield.

If he was struggling with traveling then why sign an extension. Not buying that.
