Saw something on Acc Stanley’s budget for last season.

2nd lowest in league 2, average £635 weekly wage per player and won the title.

Chesterfield had one of the biggest and got relegated.

Money helps, but management and player recruitment defines your season.

It would be interesting to see where the top 5 budget teams finished and the bottom 5 budget teams finished.

I reckon there would be a strong correlation between £ and league position. You would have to have perfect recruitment and get lucky to get promoted with a low budget, and relegated with a good budget show incompetence.
Macc and eastleigh, Accrington and Chesterfield are exceptions that prove the rule.

That's only if you believe the crap that Macc had the smallest budget.
Eastleigh have one of the worst pitches in the league and overspent on poor players.
Chesterfield are in serious financial difficulty and it wasn't a surprise that they dropped as players on silly wages didn't care.
Accrington - Good job. well done by their boss. Especially on their crowds.
