Re: National League Updates 2018/2019 Season
Slightly tongue in cheek comment but I remember all the talk at the time was of him being a bit of a snake and getting released without revealing he'd potentially been tapped up by Chesterfield, so depriving us of a potential fee. Water under the bridge anyway, like I said I wish him a speedy recovery.

If I could be bothered to describe Wedgebury's conduct in getting out of his contract in 2 words dignified and honest would be pretty far from my mind to be honest but maybe that's just me!

Re: National League Updates 2018/2019 Season
Its all behind us now but my interpretation of events was that he signed an extension but then became to realise that the travel was not great and asked the contract to be scrapped and also paid his signing on fee back. He stated at the time he hadn't got anywhere lined up and wanted the contract issue sorted before he went on holiday.
Word got out that he was now a free agent and Allen contacted him to enquire if he wanted to play for Chesterfield. He did and signed. That sequence of events may not be correct but it seems logical. In that case, he can't be considered a traitor as he was a free agent by mutual consent when Allen tapped him up? Anyway, I agree we are playing better without him though I appreciated the work he did whilst here. |

And even if Chesterfield had approached him before he asked for his contract to be terminated... who cares. We don't know his personal circumstances, I'm sure his partner had a lot of say on the move as well. Who's to say he was in Sam first team plans anyhow. Pershaps he's done Sam a favour. Also it wasn't done a week before the season, it was done well before pre season giving us plenty of time. Good move for all parties and I wish him no ill. Get well soon.
