Maybe an assistant who is also a player and we could tempt a decent league player looking to move into management in 2-3 years but is still quality at this level. A Glen Little or Dean Keates type player. Over to you Sam.
Someone like David Vaughan released by Forest.

That's a good idea. Get the best of both worlds.
Arfon was assistant manager before he took us to Division 2.

How can you expect an experienced coach assistant manager or whatever to be the assistant of an apprentice manager? it will be someone like himself a mate of his looking for a job or Captain Kellogs might know someone.

A feller down the Dog & Duck he's 50 now but he used to train Greyhounds, we could do with some pace in the side 😂

By the way Alan my post above with Captain Kellogs was not meant to be taken seriously I was being sarcastic.

In all honesty Sam has said he won't rush into appointing one which is fair enough.

I’d say it was more p’ss take than sarcasm. I wish I had a job like Harris that would allow me to put such time into the football club.

Effectively, there’s a budget for backroom staff so it’s up to the manager to recruit accordingly. I doubt this great experienced No. 2 is going to join us for £50-60k a year.

I know little about Vaughan beyond his playing career which, like Ricketts, was very good. He might think he’s got a few years left playing. However, if we can get him as a player/coach then it’ll give this club a hell of a boost similar to when Keates first arrived. Blokes like him don’t mess about and would expect high standards from those around him.

The longer this goes without an appointment being made the more I think it could be Harrison. He’s been knocked back for a few jobs in the league below and his Hartlepool experience won’t have done his profile as a manager much good (but the club was/is a basket case).

He may be thinking that the assistant job may be his best option for now at this level. The Darlington factor could have a sway as well.

I wouldn't be too disappointed with an appointment like that.
