Isnt he just saying 'what would safeguard the club against another Guterman/Moss etc coming in if the club for some reason went up for sale'????

Its a fair point.

The fact he's a 'former WST chairman' is totally irrelevant. Have you posted this thread Dave basically because you don't like the fella?

I think the main problem with fans ownership is not the fans but the uneven playing field we find ourselves in, financial fair play rules don't apply - if they were to be applied fairly across the football world it would be a totally different ball game (s'cuse the very bad pun).

Going down the German model would be beneficial for football imho

I have made no comment as to whether or not his argument is correct but highlighted his views as an important point for discussion. Disappointed in your last sentence Rob, thought you knew me better than that.

I'll copy it across. I doubt you've been blocked wafc1926, the website has been dodgy for me too, had to re log in a few times.

But the essential weakness in fans ownership is the fans.
Telford gave it up last season, just a decade after going bust. Chester are on the brink becuase they were unable to maintain their promotion every season progress.
So if someone comes in with an offer or the people who run the club think its not worth aggro....what would actually safeguard the club against a Guterman, Moss, Hamilton type take over.

Reasonable post for debate.
Not sure what kind of protection could be put in place in such circumstances other than due diligence by fans.

Currently, fans / posters advocating such a move are in a minority and even then divided in their thoughts. Some wanting investment for a share in the club, others wanting to sell the club for a pound, One or two advocating advertising for a benefactor to throw money our way.

The model we have works for us at present and we need to make more effort to expand the fan base to benefit us all.

I'm sorry if I have jumped to conclusions Dave, but judging by the exchanges you have had with him its pretty safe to say you dont like the guy for whatever reason.

If you had posted paragraphs from the actual discussion on the other forum it might have helped put whatever was said in the right context.

If a shady owner came in though what would they sell to profit? Ground belongs to the University with us on a long term lease. 9 acres is leased. Bar the cash in the bank we don't have the assets to strip anymore.
