Are Wrexham disadvantaged by being a Welsh club? - RedPassion.co.uk

In order to gain promotion clubs have to be consistently good. Since being demoted to the National League Wrexham, it seems, have never quite managed this, and have often struggled against lowly placed teams. Why is this?
The usual answer is that is very difficult for Wrexham players to raise their game when they are playing teams watched by just a few hundred spectators in stadiums not fit for purpose. But I think it goes much deeper than this.
It is not often realised that every game we play is in effect an ‘international’. Understandably this motivates the opposition to raise their game and play above themselves - more so than even a local derby might.
If my theory is right we need a manager who understands this and installs in OUR players that every game we play is not just about winning but also about national pride and international bragging rights. Difficult when not many of the team are Welsh but at least having a Welsh manager might just be the catalyst we need.
What do you think? Do we have enough Welsh players, or doesn't it matter?

Cardiff and Swansea (other than this season) haven't found this an issue. Think it's rubbish to be honest.

Don’t think it matters - we were dirge during the “let’s try and get loads of local lads in the squad as they’ll care more” phase.

We need a team of professionals like Pearson who will put in 100% every game. Last season we were carrying players like MacKreth who only turned up for one game. Nothing to do with nationality just down to getting the right blend of players. Do that like Macc did and we will be up.
