Default Re: When did we lose....

If anything the 'big club' mentality has held us back. How many interviews have you read from new signings banging on about us being a 'league club who have fallen out of the league', as if the powers that be will just reinstate us. Then the same players have no answer when they're outplayed by part-time 'tinpot' clubs. How many points have we gained on the pitch from our 'heritage' ? it's more of a counter-productive delusion than an attitude. For players it's a convenient idea that we have a god-given right to succeed, but our actual history means nothing to them.
Off the pitch our big club is still trying to sell tickets through an online system that must have been coded on Window 3.1. And somehow that's fine as the fans will jump through hoops to support this big club. Word of advice - check out tinpot Fylde's system.
My son has only ever known Wrexham as a non-league team, and like his mates, he is desperate for something real to celebrate. (FA Trophy forgotten already). There's no acceptance of our position from him. If the management, players, and the club in general had the same hunger as the young fans over this last decade, maybe we wouldn't still be down here. It's gonna take more than some massive floodlights.

The apathy is going to kill our great club.

Let’s see how the kid gets on in the early part of next season but we need to make our voices heard loud and clear if we don’t look like producing the goods.

Sorry if that’s blunt but personally I am sick of a club of our size being in this league alongside clubs who average 600 through the gate.
when will some fans give their head a wobble and understand club size... or club history counts for NOTHING in this league when so many sugar daddy teams.

at this level doesn't matter who you are.. if you don't have the money to spend to get out of it... you are screwed (waits for a daft macc comment now.. even though we all know macc was an anomoly) .

there are several teams at least id say who has more money at their disposal than us... non league is all about money... not club size.

We're not a big club, never have been. There have been and alway will be much bigger clubs. Yeah we might be bigger than Chester and clubs we poke fun at.
People may see us as a club with good fanbase, decent ground, that makes them want to beat us. Does that make us a big club? No, it makes some of us think we are bigger than we are.

We are where we are and need to drop the big club ego that's not apathy. But fact too many think we deserve to be somewhere else. When in this world people deserve sod all.

We are a sleeping bigger club. Our Wembley attendance showed us this.

Its all relative. We are the biggest club in non league, bigger than a lot of teams in league 2 and some in league one.

However we are not big compared to championship /premier league teams, obviously.

I believe it is the younger generation who have accepted we are a non league club and have no ambition.
We regularly struggle against part time pub teams and no one even seems to worry about this anymore.
All we hear is make believe stories about each and every one of these been owned by a wealthy Arab or funded by a premier league club.
We even accept our target for the season to be reaching the playoffs!! Until the people at the top raise the expectations we have no chance.

When people talk about the board/club having no 'hunger' to go up, can they please specify precisely how they would have expected that 'hunger' to have presented itself and what that means in real terms?

How is your ambition greater than anyone elses?

Freedom of speech and all that but what gives any of us the right to call other clubs part time pub teams. How many clubs in conference are pub teams? How many are part time? Like Ben Williams says in what way can the people at the top show us their expectations?

All very true. Living in Chester i work with a few Wrexham fans, they are always banging on about how they are 'too big for this league'.
My reply is and always will be; ''as with ourselves you are in non league football for a reason'' Sunderland are in League one for a reason, Villa are in the campionship for a reason'' All obviously have differing reasons for being where they are, but ALL should be playing at a higher level. Big grounds ,larger crowds but something put them where they are. Like the previous poster said ''it's not about size/history it's about where you are.
Maybe the expectation every year of some of your fanbase has a detrimental effect on the team and a knock on effect on the fans in general?
