Re: Sam's Assistant (2)
I was expecting his number 2 to be in place by now. It's been a couple of weeks since Sam mentioned he had pretty much sorted his assistant manager out and that it was just a case of signing the papers.
Have things changed? If we havnt got him in place by the end of this week or next I'd probably say sams number 2 has decided not to come here after all. I'm starting to feel Sorry on Sam at the minute because he doesn't seem to be having much luck when it comes to signing his targets. Same thing happened all summer with Morrell, Keates chased Andy Cook all last season, which in my view cost us promotion last season, and now Ricketts is aiming high too. I can see what Sam is doing with the smaller squad, he is trying to make his budget as competitive as possible by spending bigger on the players we wouldn't be able to bring in if we had a larger squad. These goal scorers will be offered nearly 2 payers wages to come here. This to me looks like Sam has made his mind up and he is going for it this season. The big worry to me is other teams at this level who are being bankrolled could still offer more money to these players than we can. The other worry I have is that we go and sign a goal scorer and he comes here and is rubbish. Top players also look at who else has signed and who they will be feeding off, at the moment from the wide men here Rutherford our best option for providing crosses and assists. So all in all, I can see what the new manager is planning, whether it comes off, well we will have to see. What I will say though is, it's a very risky tactic and if he fails or his players fail we could find ourselves struggling near the bottom end of the table this season.
