Whilst it's easy and tempting to mock this resolution - amusing as some of the comments have been - it is similar to the proposal to change from FC back to AFC to reflect our heritage before Moss took over. You could argue (with similar justification) that this proposal to effectively re-brand us back to the Robins is in a similar vein to the AFC Resolution which was heavily supported.

PS My personal view is that there are more important things to discuss at present, but don't think the people who put this forward should be mocked for their views

I think the actual name of our club is slightly more important than whether a grown man dresses up as a robin or a dragon once a fortnight...

Perhaps the kids can have Wrex and the adults can have Rockin’. Rockin’ can do a few stand up gigs in the Cent, pull pints in the Mold Road concourse, lace his boots up but be bolloxed after 5 mins.

There are already several clubs nicknamed "The Robins"... so hardly unique. What would you rather have on your side in a battle, a Robin or a Dragon?

No one ever knew that we were The Robins, there are too many other teams with that predictable name that play in red. WREX(ham) the Dragon is what the kids know and like.

How firkin sad, I can't believe this has become a resolution to be put forward for members to vote on.

Those that the mascot is aimed at are the under 12's and they should be the ones to decide, unfortunately it is mature adults voting on this, it really is pathetic and embarrassing beyond belief.

Those that proposed it can feel proud of themselves.

What next, free ice cream!

The Robins - rubbish nickname, but had history, so fine
The Dragons - rubbish nickname, although technically it was "The Red Dragons" we were rebranded as, by that Commercial Manager who was here for 20 minutes. The "Red" bit seems to have disappeared, mainly because it's bloody rubbish.

Why is the "Red Dragons/Dragons" rubbish? The same reason the dragon tower thing in Chirk is rubbish. The same reason the WXM Lager logo is rubbish. It's suggesting that the only thing that defines Wrexham is "Wales". You know who thinks "Wales" when they hear Wrexham? People in England. Do people in Wales think "Wales" when they hear Wrexham? No. They think other things, because it's all Wales.

Wrexham being known as "The Dragons" is akin to a team in England rebranding as "The Lions" because, you know, they're English. And before somebody pipes up and says "but we play in England", yeah, so do other Welsh teams, but they've got their own identity. They didn't roll over to have their belly tickled when somebody from another country wanted to change their identity in some ill-thought-out marketing move; apart from Cardiff, obviously, but their fans are slags.

It all smacks of insecurity and a lack of imagination. Are we a Welsh team? Yeah! Are we proud of that? Too bloody right! Do we have to surrender all identity to that of our nation? Well, it reinforces our nationality to English people... BALLS TO THEM! Why not have our own identity within our own country? Isn't that more important?

There's loads of proud traditions we could plunder for a confident, unique nickname. And if the kids like Wrex The Dragon, then great, keep him, it'll still work no matter what the club nickname is. There's dragons on the badge. That's also rubbish, but that little green and white shield is far too iconic to be fiddling about with, so it has to stay, forever. A fifteen year old nickname dreamed up by some no-mark: get it in the bin!
