Take on board the humour. AGM vote is decided well before the actual meeting.

Wrex the dragon A name which reflects our Welsh identity

We have robins here in Wales too. Saw one in my garden recently!! Let's have Robin back!! (perhaps with a new bike).

I once thought we should be called The Robins again . Because thats what we were ,when I was a lad!
But I honestly think that the Dragons says it all for me !!
BUT, there would be nothing wrong with Rockin Robin making an appearance every now and again . Wrex could chase him round the pitchside

I suggest we didn't have one because in reality Rockin would have been the winner - instead the dragon was steamrolled through under the heading of 'rebranding'.

I agree about not wasting too much club time and essentially money on making changes - but, tongue in cheek whilst we are happy to celebrate our heritage and discovery that we were formed in 1864 we were far to quick to distance ourselves from our traditional nickname 'The Robins'.

Cardiff are still the Bluebirds, Swansea the Swans - they for some reason didn't rush off to rebrand themselves using a dragon so why did we ?
It was changed after a fans vote in the Leader

Pretty sure it was an online vote. I certainly remember voting online.

When I was younger I was in the junior reds not the dragons our nickname smacks too much of a South Wales influence
We've gone down the pan since we inherited that idiotic nickname
And why can't we have Wrexham lager in rather than that crap my racecourse they sponsor us for gods sake.
I for one have voted for Wrex to be made redundant and bring Robin Robin and Tina back on a modified contract if we sack him now in the close season we can bring both back so Wrex cant claim unfair dismissal he won't have union representation
Instead of match mascots we call them match promoters different job title so he won't have a leg to stand on

Err...Cardiff were re-branded as the dragons, from 2012-2015. One of Vincent Tan's wonderful ideas.

Vincent Tan changed quite a few things didn't he ? - the kit colour and club badge perhaps.

Always think of CCFC as 'the bluebirds', perhaps it's an age thing.
Agree with earlier posts - although we've never been termed 'Wrexham Town' as Ipswich the older generation did and still use the phrase 'Come on the Town'.

Imagine if were bestowed city status - don't think I would be happy at all with Wrexham City.

Obviously not the Leader, or Wrexham, but in another town in the UK I was reliably told their local council was dead keen on city status and a reporter was sent out to get vox pops so the scribe could update the population on local views.

Once the feedback was gained from a range of people, things were brought back to the office and presented.

Sadly the strong anti-city status feeling in said town had come through, so a 'try again' message was issued as it did not fit the wishes of mysterious higher ups. Why such types would want to stay on message, and whos message, I never knew.

The article then presented the townsfolk as being dead keen on being a city, and the city status bid.

As I said, not Wrexham, and probably coming up to 9-10 years ago too, so it might not even have happened

I can't remember why I am telling this tale, so will now shush.
