It is likely that Ward will go out on loan next season. If memory serves, last season he only played 90 minutes in the caribao cup. His stock will have dropped and Liverpool wouldn't get anywhere near the money offered by Huddersfield prior to last season. Reckon if he did go it would be a to a championship side for £2/2.5 mill.
Liverpool may take a decent loan fee and have him ready for the Premier League the following season with them or for a more sizeable fee.

Tv money and ever growing acadamies at the big clubs, stockpiling youngsters does nothing to help anyone. The big clubs get bigger, the smaller clubs get left behind. Throwing money at a white elephant would be pointless especially as it would not be sustainable. Once the money ran out then so would the system.

Whilst we remain outside the football league then funding the COE has become difficult so we have to either use all available money to get back into the league (that then solves the financial issue) or look at ways to make the COE self funding on an annual basis. This means attracting sponsorship for youth that would not come into the club if it were spent on the first team.

If we got £1m for Ward then I would fund the COE for 1 year to allow them to build a pot that could be used over future years. Put a big chunk into the first team with a 2 year plan and then keep the remainder in the WST for use as a loan bank for community, ground and disabled projects (all of which would be repayable).

So £200k COE, £500k team, £300k WST. Just a thought

If I was Ward id be looking for a move. With all the blunders Karius and Mignolet dropped last season and all you get is 90 minutes id be looking for pastures new.
