In my opinion the sorts of people who would invest in our club would be people who are not looking for a straight return, and they would come through building on relationships through the commercial department. So, from an existing relationship, people would be encouraged to sponsor the stadium, or the CoE, or something along those lines, and furthermore these investors, if they have applicable skills and experience, would be invited to join the board to provide us with their knowledge, commercial skills and contacts.

I think borrowing money, even at low rates of interest tied in to results on the field, is a potential minefield and could backfire spectacularly. As York, Torquay, Barnet and others have found out, this can hamstring the club back in the EFL and result in a very quick return to the National League, or worse. I would certainly not be in favour of it.

What better time could there be than now for an investor come in?

This club is a "Sleeping giant" proven to get 3500 to 4500 fans through the gates on match days in this league.
If the investment saw us promoted, those numbers would swell 5 to 6000 we have even had 8000 for the odd game recently.
If you are going to invest then surely the best time to do it is when the thing you are investing in is at a low point.
With the right financial backing, the possibilities are endless.

Three or four quality players at this level, £200000 investment, could see us going up, what would the return be like then?

Come on Foxy, get your chums from across the border to throw their loose change this way, surely they can see it makes sense.

It is virtually as good as owning it.

besides, thats not the debate. The debate is whether we have anything to invest in, and a 100 year lease IS an asset. Thus something to invest in.

I agree, we don't want to borrow anything.

I would suggest that a 99 year lease is a benefit, not an asset.

But it is an asset. Not an asset in my opinion.

There was an accountant on here who confirmed.

If the Club's objective was simply to find investors in order to buy our way back into the Football League, I wonder if someone prepared to invest a decent sum for skilled players who could definitely do a job down here would consider a future return of say 10% or more at the end of the following season IF promotion was achieved?

How would the return on investment be funded? It could be offset against future income derived from increased attendances, the £472,000 basic award and £430,000 Premier League Solidarity payments that all L2 clubs receive for starters - though some or all of that would be required to maintain a competitive playing budget in L2.

Any thoughts?
I still think anyone who was to bring their ££ would want control of the club.
