Agree and does it not remind you of the blind former police officer who used to attend games and sit in the side building of The Turf- courtesy of the Border.
His friend used to provide him with match commentary. The officer was shot in the face whilst on duty in Mid Wales. We have made far reaching progress re disabilities.

Just to update.

North Wales Freemasons are sponsoring the ADC to the tune of £1200 to cover the first years set up and training of commentators.

I sourced the commentary equipment free of charge back in 2016, collected it in London and it is at the club.
The DSA will cover the cost of an FM license for the club.
We also have a deal in place to cover 3 further years refresher training and help from Alan March Sports.

The overall package will be worth around £4000 and will be at minimal cost to the DSA, and £0 for the club, thanks to very kind support from friends of the DSA.

Great news for those that desperately need it. (Can it be transmitted to some of our referees) We often take sight for granted until ours starts to deteriorate. I can't imagine being blind or partially sighted.
Fantastic support from the Freemasons, often derided on here, their charity work is often exceptional.
The training deal sounds good as well. How much is the FM licence, I'd like to make a contribution towards it.

I have not got as far as pricing it up yet.

We could start a dedicated fund for this if people are interested?

I'm quite sure the RP community would chip in to help the cause.

All help is and will continue to be appreciated.

Speaking of which we will be looking for help on the car park this season as we have lost 2 of our great team from last year (1 for work reasons, 1 is abroad) and my own mobility is not great these days either.
Anyone that can spare an hour or so pre match on either a one-off, occasional or more often would be very Welcome!!!

A further update.

We'd like to thank CAFE | Centre for Access to Football in Europe for the donation of the commentary equipment, which made this project so much more attainable.

We also have a sponsorship deal in the pipeline which we will announce at the earliest possible opportunity.
We have also approached Europe's top English language service provider Alan March Sports to operate this for us.
We have the equipment ready to test and hope to be able to name the donor as soon as they give us their blessing.
Thanks go out to DLO Kerry Evans for getting these plans approved by the WST board.

If you are interested in the service as a user or as a potential commentator please do get in touch!!!
Hi

My dad has been registered as partially blind and only came to a number of games last season due to his disability. Previous to this he had been a regular at Cae Ras since the 1950's.

I am very interested to understand more about Audio Descriptive Commentary please.

Many thanks

El Jonez
