Also we went unbeaten at home in the league for eight months. Our only home loss at that time was in the cup where we played half a team of youngsters. I will concede that too many were draws, but it's still an achievement not to be sniffed at.

Also, it's a starting point if nothing else. I'd rather be in the position we are now than the position we were in 12 months ago.
Last season was not an improvement.... it was bloody awful. I will not be attending next year if we don’t improve the performances at home. It was dire.

Congy, I think you have missed the point that we spent more money last season and still failed. The Taylor money was in the pot plus £100k of BTB so the main crux of the matter is that it is mainly about money but it also has to be money well spent.

Keates wasted money on Massanka and Reid when we would have been better spending the total on just 1 player. Likewise with Deverdics and Franks.
I also think we missed an opportunity with Archer and after training with us and not deemed good enough then signed down the road.

How do bigger teams in leagues fall from grace? Well simply put they recruit players not good enough and thats where we are.

We do have a core for next season at the moment but we have to add further quality on top of that and that will cost money.

Here we go! Not even back in pre season and the knives are out. I have a novel idea,if you don't like it,stay away. Not hard really.

Hmmm thats going to help the coffers then isnt it.
Actively suggesting fans stay away is worse than trying to provide constructive criticism.

Not really. Firstly its not constructive. Its moaning without substance. Secondly,if the attitude at a match is the same as on here, yeah then definately, stay away. Argue all you like, but players perform better when supported than when lambasted and booed for a stray pass. Logic.Players respond better, play better, more chance of success. More success, more money. So the persistant moaners who stay away actuall help out the club! Easy. God I wish it were that simple.

That makes 2 of us football is supposed to be an entertainment it's not all about promotion, that kind of football will eventually drive the fans away.

Here's an example putting aside whatever premier club you make like what would you rather watch man City, Liverpool spurs or man Utd for entertainment? The answer should be all the above bar man Utd, leaving the childish hatred aside, Utd finished second and bored the pants off their fans as they are used to entertaining attractive football under Ferguson. The same applies at our club. Wrexham for decades we were known for playing football the right way attacking at home and scoring lots, except for the 98 point team the football has mainly been terrible getting worse season after season... Last season was one big borefest and what did we achieve? Yes midtable.

We managed to get close to success because we could afford a mix of league quality players and good conference players. For next season we've signed Young, who appears to at least be a good conference player and kept some good/very good others.

Every season we're in the Conference this formula will work to get us a chance. The number of fans attending proves this formula has enduring popularity and the accounts show a steady improvement in the books.

It isn't lack of money that prevents greater success. Its a tiny step to having a team that clicks and has a bit of luck with injuries.
although money helps massivly in majority of cases... i agree

but ofc it isnt amust.. Macclesfield are a prime example of this last season

so as much as the MP is right.... Macclefield blows the theory out the water.

I'm sorry but it is about money it's the main thing the agents negotiate. It's a short career and players get the best deals they can get and for example if Guiseley can pay John Rooney more than we can he will go. Did we seriously offer Andy Cook more money than tranmere I doubt it. These players owe us nothing they don't care about history or attendances it's about their monthly net pay
